Door locking and top operating system failure

My 2002 Mercedes SL 500 door locking system and top operating systems stopped working. I was told that it may be the pump in the trunk, but need to know how to test it prior to replacing. I was thinking about bench testing it but there are many small vacuum/pressure lines coming out of it and I am not sure what will happen if I remove them..
Thanks for your help

I had this problem, the pump is very expensive however if you can not hear the pump in the car it is the motor that has gone down.easy to repair, I got the motor out of a 12v tyre air pump for the cost of £6. Be very carful when you take the pipes off. in my S class there are two pumps, the one in the boot is for the soft closure doors and there is another one under the back seat for the central locking. Hope that is of some help

SOURCE: Mercedes SL 500 2002 model, brake pad removal

Hello, When you are looking at the caliper, you should see two pins holding the pads in. Look for the holes or the ends of the pins and drive them toward the inside of the caliper until they come out. Then take a large screwdriver or large channel locks and pry the pads away from the rotor. Now you should be able to take the pads out. When installing the new pads, you will have to put the pins back from the back side until they are flush with the caliper. When finished, make sure you pump the brake pedal until it comes up to the normal level before trying to move the car.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: how do i remove hardtop on a 1990 mercedes sl 500

Assuming the hardtop/soft top system is operating properly-push the red switch in the console towards back of car until the top pops up. Make sure you unplug the defroster harness at the r rear of top (behind passenger seat. It will take 2 people to grab the top and pull it up and off. If this system is inoperable- there is a tool in the tool kit(if not you can buy one at the dealer-called a hard top removal tool) and unlock the 2 locks in the front of the top by the sun visors, and 2 locks located behind the seats by the quarter glass panels and the 2 locks in the rear accessible through the trunk. Your owners manual will describe how to do this procedure. I hope i have been helpful

I just purchased a 1991 500 sl. I have the following problems: as soon as the car begins to move, a buzzer sound comes on and stays on. I assume it is a safety issue related to the top, i removed the...

You have many issues that are all unrelated.

Buzzer for th lights is supposed to be when the car is off or door is open telling you the lights are on that would lead me to believe your ignition switch or door pin switches are corroded or bad.

That may affect the top but I doubt it.

The soft top not working is most likely a hydraulic issue and can cost 1k-3k to fix unless you do it yourself.

The engine light is only for emissions. Something in that system has gone out most likely an O2 sensor.

The freon coming right out is most likely the evaporator leak in the dash this is a costly fix also. You could try your luck with industrial stop leak in the system, but if that dont work your stuck.

Antitheft system has the car alarm system activated, when ever i hood up the battery the alerm will never stop blowing the horn and flashing the head ligths.

Hook up the battery, then put your key in the door lock and lock and unlock the door. That should cancel the antitheft. If it doesnt work on the drivers side move to the pass. side door.

I own a 1995 mercedes SL500 and recently started having trouble with the left front door window. While stopped in a construction zone, I rolled both windows down. After leaving the construction area, I...

The window position is monitered by the softop control module. It sounds like the glass is very dirty and drawing too much amperage during window operation. The soft top is electro hydraulic. The roll bar is operated normally with hydraulics but it is mechanically released in an emergency situation. 1st make sure your windows are clean and the express(one touch operation) is working-the soft top will not function properly if the windows are not synchronized. Next be sure your roll bar works-hold swith in up position to lock roll bar rams in if they have been deployed. next put your top all the way up. untill windows roll up and try it with the engine running and trans in nuetral- if it still does not work mechanically secre rear of top with tool provided in your tool kit the owner's manual will tell you how to do this. good luck

02 Ford F350 Crew cab passenger side door locks get tired.

There are no locks that are operated by vacuum. Whoever told you that the locks are operated electrically was correct. When you are driving the alternator is spinning allowing for more electricity to flo through the vehicle. this could allow more to flow to the lock cylinders.

Doors will not lock with remote

Have you checked the Vacuum for the central locking system? I had a similar issue in mine and realized the vacuum wasn't functioning. If the pump is working then perhaps one of the lines has a leak. You'll have to take it to have the system or the lines checked.
