It could be an ignition related issue or fuel.
When it doesn't start does it crank, do you have the ignition lights?
The most common problem of intermittant no star probems is the crank sensor on the front of the engine, they can break down over a period of time and fail when warm. if not then I would fit a fuel pressure guage to the car and run it. Then see what the reading is when warm. If it is nothing (should be 38-40) then I would replace the fuel pump relay.
The fuel pumps typically don't fail intermittantly, they just fail!

1984 jag xj6 has no power

Hi Clyde

Expect you have it running by now, as I see this was posted 2 March ?

If not......

Charge up your battery, and heavy discharge test, suspect you have short in the plates.

If OK, jump start with a set of proper heavy duty jump leads.

Good Luck !

A FixYa would be nice...Thank´s......John.

Jag XJ6 revs are too high

If you have replaced the Throttle postion sensor (TPS) or have replaced the battery, sometimes the car will need an engine set up.
I had the same problem with my xj6 and I did an engine set-up and it has been fine for the last 2 years. Also with the idle doing what it did it had a very harsh shift when driving and changing gears.
The BAD news is the dealer has to perform the engine set-up using the WDS (worldwide diagnostic system) The set-up will set the kick down switch, it will calibrate and set the TPS and also perform an oxygen sensor orientation test.
With the set-up it will allow the TPS sensor to be adjusted to the correct factory specs.
Sorry you can't do this your self.
This is obviously if there is no vac leaks and the throttle butterfly is set to 2 thousands of an inch. (gap on the side when closed throttle) check with a feeler guage.

95 Jag XJ6 wont start

Have you tried to take off the plugs for a couple of mins and then take it back? You must have fed your car up(but I'm not 100% sure). I mean there's too much petrol in the plugs already. When you have sorted out and everything's fine here's another idea to prevent this problem again. When you switch the engine off don't rev and when you switch it on let it start. Don't turn it off when the engine's just about to run. I hope it'll help. Drive carefully!

Ignition but no start

I have a 94 xj6 jag and after a blow out the car will not start. I pulled over and turned the car off. When I fixed the blowout it will not start. I have lights, power windows, sunroof, radio and dash lights but when I turn the key nothing. I cant even get it out of drive in first position. The guages doesn't function either, but the dash lights will. Can some one please help me!!!
