I have 5.7L V8. I have checked the ac systems pressure and it was fine at 55lbs. I replaces the fuse, relay and low pressure switch and the clutch/compressor still wont turn on. I by passed the low pressure switch by putting a hot wire from the battery to the conecter off the switch and the clutch engaged right away and the ac system ran cold. I don't understand what to do from here???

I pulled this from another web site
"The AC clutch relay is located inside the cab on a metal bracket that is easiest to see when you remove the glove box compartment.
The relay is on a metal bracket bolted to the top of the plastic air box, forward and to the center of the dash from glove box.
There are three relays in a row on that bracket. The AC clutch relay is the end one closest to the driver’s side."
Testimonial: "Right on target... THANKS"

The A/C pressue switch may be bad as well. Also the mode switch on the control head inside the vehicle. There are many other exsisting problems pertaining to a/c. I suggest a manual from Auto Zone for many faults can be noted especially wiring can be at fault

yes alow presure switch is likely on GM and it could be out of freon ,safe way to tell is to put a set of gauges on it and it will tell by passing the low side switch will just destroy the compressor if it is out of freon

hi,
you can try and jump the high pressure limiter switch on the expansion tank, sometimes they get a bubble. Its the silver cylinder looking thing near the firewall. follow the cooling pipes from the compressor back to the tank if theres a question, on the top or near it will be two wires going into it, undo that switch housing connector and hook a jumper wire up there. switch may have to be replaced there. dont run that for any length of time with the jumper, just to diagnose.
good luck
