1994 Buick Lesabre shuts off while driving

1994 Buick Lesabre keeps shutting off.. Service Engine Soon light does not come on and it will restart. Additionally radio stays on unless actual switch is turned off. Sometimes the speedometer waves about right before the car turns off, but not every time. It's not the negative battery cable, but have no other ideas.

SOURCE: URGENT - 1994 Buick LeSabre stalls in mid-ride

I have the same vehicle, and had the same problem. I took it to my mechanic, and after all of the codes were read we replaced the Ignition Control Module, then the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

It runs just fine now.
Best bet would be to have someone hook up the code reader. The car will tell you what it needs(not specifically, but it'll tell you where to look).

Good luck!!!

Kindest Regards,

Ollie

SOURCE: 1994 Buick Lesabre service engine soon light. Can't read code.

I found several shops in my area, Albany, NY that had the older code readers. It worked fine, and cost me $30.00. It showed a bad O2 sensor that I replaced myself. I suggest you go to a reliable shop. Auto Zone/Advance etc.. do not have the right code readers. Joe

SOURCE: 1995 Buick LeSabre - Stalls then restarts while driving

Has the fuel filter been chg. lately. If it has, maybe a fuel pressure test is in order. Fuel pump might be geeting weak and does not show up until it gets warmed up. Fuel pumps are a common problem on this type of cars.

1994 Buick Lesabre calls for a 160 or 180 degree thermostat

that is the opening temperature for the thermostat
it opens at 160 degrees which is good for hot weather operation or another with 180 degrees which is good for cold weather operations
The differences is 160 opens sooner to start coolant circulation to keep operating temperature low where the 180 keeps shut and allows the operating temperature to rise up as soon as it open the cold air will quickly cool the coolant.

The "Service Engine Soon" light

No, because you have to check for codes
whenever you get any OBD 1 or 2 Light on your dash

94 buick lesabre starts ,runs ,then when shut off will not start

If the service engine light is on, it could be a faulty sensor or anything electronical with the car. It may even be something non noticeable. The only way to check exact problem is to run error codes.

1995 buick lesabre shuts off while driving, engine runs smooth and then shuts off,,it restarts without a problem,,,,what could be causing this. i have checked my battery connections and they are fine.

Plugged fuel filter. There are two - one in the tank and one in the fuel line. Probably the one in the fuel line so change that one first.

1994 buick lesabre

It could easily be running out of fuel - the fuel filter. And possibly the fuel pump. I would check the fuel filter first. hope this helps you, Rick
