SOURCE: 1995 crown vic gear problems/gear shift wont lock

most likely the shift tube bushings are bad- you may have also lost a few screws in the shift tube or they could just be loose. you have to pull the steernig column down to inspect/repair it.

Running hot with no leaks

You would need to check the components of the cooling system, such as the thermostat and cooling fan, also things like a blocked exhaust.

I have a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with a bad transmission. Will any transmission from a 1999 or 2000 Crown Vic. or Grand Marquis work as a replacement?

MOST INTERCEPTER CARS, MEAN THEY HAVE AN ADDED GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION! WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IS GOING TO A TRANSMISSION WITHOUT THAT EXTRA GEAR! TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: YES YOU CAN REPLACE IT WITH A REGULAR TRANSMISSION! YOU JUST WON'T BE ABLE TO CHASE BURGLARS! HAHA

Transmission leaking

I have a 1988 Ford Crown Vic....on mine, there is a small leak at the back end of the transmission, where the drive shaft connects....

Is this where your fluid is leaking from?

My cousin is a ford mechanic...he told me that he sees that a lot on the vics of this age.....not because a seal is bad, but because of how the tranny is made....

but im not sure...

hope this helps somehow...
