I will do it in my own way since the wiring is messed up, and when i press close on my Remote, the trunk pops open. I will Harness this problem to benefit me since my remote does not have a trunklid switch. I will route the Motor (that has a piston) wire through the switch relay (located just above the vehicle ID plate area), so that opening the trunk lid is only possible when i keep pressing the trunk open swich (on the trunk lid) while at the same time pressing the close/LOCk button on my remote.

Here is the year 2011 solution:

remove the harnes for the trunk lid motor completely, splice the two pairs of wires and link the the +ive to reach the +ive of the vehicle nameplate lights. NOW the we need to remove the harness for the trunk lid actuator/button, splice both wires and link 1 wire to any -ive source and the other wire should be linked to the other pair of the motor harness. WHAT this will do is when you switch on your ambient driving lights, the +ive voltage will reach the motor, so inorder to open the trunk you will have to press the truck open latch, causing the -ive to flow into the motor and voila. your secret trunk open porcedure is inplace

DO NOT KEEP the actuator depressed for long, just press and release immediately. IF motor does not move try swapping the sliced wiring from the motor harness side

Even VW techs will never discover this :)

How do I get the trunk sensor to shut off on the dash?

Close the trunk.... Just kidding

this might sound odd but it sound like the sensor that sees the trunk as closed is either mis adjusted or faulty.

spray a squirt of penetrating oil like wd40 into the receiver that secures the trunk lid. For example the lid should have a loop or square of metal that when the trunk lid is closed joins with the locking mechanism.

Shoot a a squirt of we 40 into the locking mechanism and see if the light goes out.

My 1987 Cadillac fleetwood D'elegance trunk wont open, even when i push the trunk release button in the glove department

Do you hear a click noise at all? You could try this.. One person sit on the truck lid, (heavier may be better) relieving the lift tension on the lock, while the other person push the button and hold. Sitter then hops off and pulls up on the trunk lid. If not working, Sitter person could try gently bouncing on the trunk lid while you hold the button.
Groceries still in trunk after 3 months???
If no joy, then you need someone to replace or remove the lock and pop it with a screwdriver.

My 1999 caliver trunk is not closeing no more, why

have a look at the trunk latch mechanism.sometimes they get closed when they should be open(the fingers that lock the trunk lid closed).if its in the closed position just unlock the trunk with the key and use something to pop open the lock(fingers) then the trunk will close again.

Where is the trunk release on inside of trunk?

It is right on the locking mechanism. When you pull the trink release, it retrieves and the trunk pops up. It is on your trunk lid, right in the middle. There is a small metal plate that you can be pushed bak if it is locked. When you use the trunk button, that metal piece releases and the trunk opens.

Occasionally trunk lid won't lock on my a8 2006. When closing the lid is lifted a little on right hand side before falling into place. Even if I turn the central locking on the lid OFF it will open...

The locking mechanism either needs replacing or cleaning and lubricating but more often than not it's likely the striker pin needs readjusting to bring the lid fully shut.

2005 audi a8 trunk + upgrades for ipod integration

I had exact same problem, but what I found out was a three step solution to the problem.
1) The trunk lock above the trunk lid tself - sometimes looses coiling retention for the lock to work properly, which in effect does not properly lock wrap around the pull down electronic unit located in the body of the car/trunk that catches and pull the trunk lid down SOLUTION: check and make sure lock is works properly. you cab check by opening trunk and locking it with remote key, then pry the lock with a screw driver to see if it unlocks or stays locked

2) The motor catching unit in the body of the car/trunk that catches the lid and draws it down can be off balance (sitting too low to catch the lock (upper trunk lid with lock) to pull it down and stay locked. Have a mechanic - Audi preferrably, check the positon and allignment to adjust it, so it can catch trunk lid and lock to stay locked. HOPE THIS HELPS!
