When i first got my 300zx some dummy had cut off the wiring harness to the stock radio, and the wires to the speakers that are under the passenger seat coming from the amp. which controls the antenna and steering wheel controls, i found a antenna switch at a junkyard and plugged it in the the antenna harness, whenever i flip the antenna switch, it just makes a clicking sound, i can pull the antenna up manually and it will stay up, but if i flip the switch it goes down.
also i have to manually turn the aftermarket radio on/off everytime i get in/out of the car, is there a ignition wire that i can hook the radio to?
On the fuse box behind the driver side left kick panel find the Radio fuse and connect the main power to that remember to keep the full time power connected to the proper wire so your clock (if you raido has one) will keep correct time. If you are not sure which wire on the radio is full time power and which is the on off power check the manufacture web site for information or call there help line. From the radios I have done and I am no expert beleave me but the ones I remember always used Red for the main power (the one that should be switched so the radio comes on with the key and not have to be turned on and off) the full time power for the clock and memory features is usualy yellow. Black or green can be ground but use caution as these could also be speaker wire colors. If you cant find the fuse location from the original radio you can use a simple volt meter or just a 12 volt light blub with two wires attached. simply take the negitive side and place that wire on a bolt that is screwed into the car metal body or frame or to a known ground wire. take the positive end and start touching the positive wires on the back on fuse box. if you start with the key off you know everyone that lights up has constant power so mark them with one color perminate marker. next turn the key to ACC. and see which of the non marked have power and again mark them with a different color (one of these will be the one you want to use just make sure you pick one with a small fuse as most radios will melt long before a #25 fuse blows again check the manufactures spesifications for the proper fuse range to use. Now the only thing left to do is to turn the key to on and make sure the power sorse you plan to use stays on withthe key in on as well as acc. now connect the red wire to the source chosen and leave everything else alone and you sould be fine. I can stress this enough you should always check with the manufacture of the radio before playing with the wires to make sure you dont put the wrong one in the wrong place because doing so can dammage the radio of worse your car. Also keep in mind I am not a professional and am offering the way I would approch this problem if it were me doing it. If possable your best bet is to take the car to a professional so you have some assurances it is done correctly and you wont come out one day to find your car has caught fire and is a pile of ash because you put this wire where that one went and didnt notice anything. Good luck

Probably bad antenna wire at the antenna itself. Try plugging a piece of bare wire into the antenna hole (the 1/8" hole in the center) on radio, you should get something, hissing or some sound.
Not sure I understand your question. Did you buy a harness adapter for GMC, or are you trying to just cut the connector off the factory radio and solder it to your CD player? If the latter, below is the color code for your factory wiring.

THIS IS A COPY OF A POST I SUBMITTED TO SOMEONE WHO HAD A SIMULAR QUESTION REGARDING AN ALPINE BRAND RADIO ISTTALLATION. THE PROCESS IS THE SAME NO MATTER WHAT BRAND THE AFTERMARKET RADIO IS.
Go to the store and buy a mounting kit and wiring harness adapter that are for your car. There are alot to choose from and most are universal and come with instructions. You can get these at wal-mart or best buy. The mounting kit is meant to fill in the empty space left by the new aftermarket radio (your alpine). The alpine will have a metal sleeve around it. take this off and put it in the mounting bracket so it is flush. The sleeve will have little triangle shaped tabs on it. Bend these out so the sleeve cant fall out of the bracket or someone will be able to pull out your radio. Remove your stock radio by pulling off the trim around the radio. This is held on by clips, so be careful. There will be a couple of screws holding in the radio. Remove these and pull the radio out. Behind the radio there will be 1 or 2 wiring harnesses plugged into the radio. Unplug these. Then attach the wiring harness adapters you bought. These plug into the stock harness and have wires at the other end that are labeled. Wire the alpine wiring harness into the harness adapters that you plugged into the stock harness. If you want to you can unplug the harness from the alpine and wire it to the harness adapter before plugging it into the stock harness. The wiring diagram should be on the radio. If not the colors are pretty common. RED = SWITCHED PWR LEAD (IGNITION) ORANGE = ILLUMINATION BLACK = GND YELLOW = BATTERY LEAD GREY = FNT SPKR RIGHT(+) GREY/BLACK STRIPE = FNT SPKR RIGHT(-) WHITE = FNT SPKR LEFT (+) WHITE/BLACK STRIPE = FNT SPKR LEFT (-) VIOLET = REAR SPKR RIGHT (+) VIOLET/BLACK STRIPE = REAR SPKR RIGHT (-) GREEN = REAR SPKR LEFT (+) GREEN/BLACK STRIPE = REAR SPKR LEFT (-) BLUE = PWR ANTENNA LEAD BLUE/WHITE STRIPE = REMOTE TURN ON LEAD(FOR SUBWOOFER AMPLIFIER) There may be RCA jack inputs in the back and these are for the subwoofer amp. There will be a large black cable in the back and this is the antenna wire. Plug in the antenna wire from the back of the stock radio here. Yu may or may not need an adapter for this depending on the size difference between the wire and the hole it plugs into. **Please note: if your car has a "premium" sound system that comes stock with an amplifier you will need to attach the power antenna lead from the alpine to the remote turn on lead on the harness adapter. If not when you turn on the radio/cd it will not turn on the stock amplifier and the speakers will not work. I found this out with my 99 dodge avenger which has an Infinity stock radio. You can pop the trunk and look up at the back dash and see the small amplifier. Once the radio is wired and the mounting bracket is installed, connect the harness adapter as well as the antenna wire. The new wiring harness adapter makes the wiring a little longer so you may have to stuff them back a little bit. Connect the harness from the alpine back into the back of the radio and slide the head unit into the metal sleeve until you hear a click. Before sucuring the mounting bracket and putting the trim back on it is a good idae to try the radio out so if there is something wrong you dont have to disassemble it again. When you buy the harness and bracket it will say on the packaging "nissan 84-94" or "Honda 83-99" or something similar. Look on the back for a complete list of compatable models
You can buy a kit from a number of sources to solve this problem. Instructions come with the kit. If you are putting a stock radio back in go to a junk yard and cut the loom out of another truck and marry it to your truck. If you don't want to do either of these things the fat red wire is almost always hot. The antenna cable is unique and will only fit in one spot. the speaker wires are small diameter and will work no matter which way you hook them up as long as one hot (speaker) wire and one ground wire go to each speaker. Have fun.
