SOURCE: diagnostic code for land rover discovery 2 se7

Code P1590 is a rough road/ABS fault that normally will also show up when the ABS is having problem with the lights coming on and off or on all the way. Only indicating the the 3 Amigos are on or come on go. Fix you brakes and then you can clear the code.

It can be clear with a proper scanner and is not being caused by any other ABS part.

Check the troublecodes.net/landrvr for other details.

SOURCE: default code P1451 Land Rover Discovery II

The code P1451 on a Land Rover is "Leakage Detection Module Motor power stage error Drive cycle A:Signal out of range - above maximum". This is an OBD-II diagnostic system code. As far as I know, a 1995 Land Rover Discovery does not use a OBD-II system. Is it possible that this rover is a later model year

2000 Land Rover Discovery 2. I cannot find a leak detection pump but get a P1451 and P1481 code. Could this be the solenoid for the charcoal canister vent in the engine bay giving me the issues?.

Question edited for clarity.

My late mother worked at the Land Rover plant in Solihull and put careful miles on a Disco when it was known as the 'J Car'. Also the first Vogue with a turbo. Long time ago!

Information and videos on both codes.

How to clear a p1590 code 2001 Range Rover

https://landroverforums.com/forum/discovery-ii-18/what-code-p1590-17819/
You can remove with a code reader. It may come back.
I have removed them by taking negative cable off battery for about 15 minutes and then put cable back on. Some cars the radio will stop working when battery is disconnected. If you have ever unhooked the battery before with no problems you should be ok.

Can the Neutral position switch cause my land rover to die while in drive mode?

The 2000 Discovery with code p1590 is not neutral safety switch, this code 1590 is for the ABS rough road signal circuit malfunction .this is can be caused by a bad wire or sensor problem. The ABS is the anti lock brake system and will not cause engine to die out.

the problem you list is more of a signal loss for crank sensor or other sensor but most of the time a sensor fault that cut engine should set a code no matter how fast or often, so i would have to say it must be a fuel problem, the fuel pump stops pumping at times causing loss of power and then picks back up.

What scan tool are you using that told you this was a neutral switch? is this a small code reader?
I would let the dealer scan it with a real scan tool and see what is going on, when you say it dies while driving are you saying the engine shuts off and you need to restart it or is it a loss of power at which you can not give it gas or engine revs up but wont go?

My landrover discovery is having sensor problems won't pass emissions check engine light is on i had it checked out they said the code p1590 dtc was th e diagnosis

The code IS NOT the diagnosis, The code tells you why the computer thinks there is a problem, the diagnosis is WHY. Get a qualified shop to check it out and recommend repairs.
