SOURCE: how do i check the transmission fluid level on a

There should be a plug in the transmission on the side. You need enough room to pull the plug. You then fill it until fluid comes out. I have a 1985 jetta and the book tells me once that is full then add more ( I do nor recall how much more and it is not a lot) where the speedometer goes into the transmission. I would call the dealer for how much more should be added if any.

SOURCE: where do I check the transmission fluid in a 1996

VW's are notorious for not having a dipstick in the transmissions. The units are sealed, and can only be check by the VW dealers.

Sorry, my 1998 VW Beetle had the same problem.

How much transmission fluid do you need to fill a 2002 Izuzu Rodeo

in the absence of car manual, fill initially with one liter/qrt of transmission fluid. check for leaks and start engine. with transmission in park, slowly add transmission fluid with engine at idle. constantly monitor transmission fluid level with vehicle on level position until fluid level in "cold", then drive vehicle approximately for one mile until fluid is warmed up or hot. recheck fluid level with engine idling and on park. Add if necessary until fluid level in Hot position in dip stick. then your done. write down how much fluid you added for future reference.

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) checking:
1. Requirements for check:
1.1. Vehicle standing on level surface.
1.2. Transmission must not be in fail-safe mode.
1.3. Shift lever in "P" position, parking brake applied.
1.4. Engine idling.
1.5. Air Conditioner and heater OFF.
1.6. ATF temperature must not exceed 104 Fahrenheit degree (40 Celsius degree) at start of test.
1.7. Automatic gearbox oil capacity: 2,5 liter. Only ATF with VW designation may be used. Do not use any lubricant additives.
1.8. Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF - part number: VW G 052 990 A2
1.9. An ATF level check when transmission oil temperature is too low results in overfilling, when too high results in underfilling.
2. CAUTION: Too much or too little ATF will affect the operation of the transmission. The ATF level must be checked at regular intervals.

How to fill the transmission fluid on 2003 volkswagen jetta

Locate the transmission dip stick. To check on levels start the engine and put into 'park'. let it run for a minute and now check the dip stick for levels. Additional fluid can be added via the dip stick tube. I recommend adding no more than half a litre at a time and then checking the level again; all the while the engine should be running whilst in 'park' is selected on the transmission.

2004 Golf 2.0FSI auto transmission, 77,000 kms, dealer serviced since new, one owner (my wife). Auto trans is slipping and not selecting gears/keeping gears properly. Is this a common problem? VW dealer...

Check fluid level first to ensure that there is enough hydraulic pressure for brake bands and clutches to engage fully. Have the engine running in 'park' and remove the transmission fluid dip stick. Check level, colour and smell: it should be pink/red with no hint of any burnt aroma. If it is tinged brown this is due to clutch surface material wearing away. The acrid over cooked smell will arise if the brake bands are continuously slipping and generating heat. If the level looks low top with extra fluid via the transmission dipstick tube (do not confuse this with the gearbox oil dipstick) VW is a popular make and there will be auto transmission specialists out there with extensive knowledge. It would be no harm phoning around to ask for them to give it an assessment and then to ask the cost of adjustment, overhaul, repair or replacement.

Late1999 golf trans slips when cold, it feal like it goes to neutral, give it gas and it bangs into gear ?

Check the fluid level. That sounds like a transmission fluid issue. If it is low, check for leaks. Only check the fluid when the car is running and at operating temperature. That will give you an accurate reading.

How do i add transmission fluid to a 1994 volkswagen golf?

the reason only main dealers should perform this operation is that the atf has to be over 80 degrees celcius to obtain a true level reading. you should be able to check it yourself, you will need to give the car a good run, putting plenty of load on the gearbox. (ie. rapid accelerations, uphill etc) as this will heat the fluid to the desired temperature range. then get under the gearbox, and there should be a 5mm hex key bolt in the gearbox sump. remove the plug, if oil comes out then the transmission is over full. if no fluid comes out then you will need to top it up. this is accomplished by removing a black and red blanking plug where the dipstick should be. just top up the fluid till it drips out of the level hole. ( PLEASE NOTE, THE VEHICLE MUST BE LEVEL TO OBTAIN CORRECT LEVEL, ALSO VEHICLE MUST BE IDLING IN EITHER PARK OR NEUTRAL AS THIS ALLOWS THE FLUID FLYWHEEL TO BE FULL ASWELL )

Vw automatic trans won't shift

The 01M and 09A automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick and procedure requires measuring and maintaining a specified ATF temperature (which is neither cold or hot, but in between) during the ATF level checking. Special Volkswagen tools are required for this operation and it is therefore recommended that ATF level checking on 01M/09A transmissions be left to an authorized VW dealer.

Where do I check the transmission fluid on a 1997 Hyundai excel

Remove Transmission Fluid Level Check
Locate and remove the transmission fluid level checker, in most cars and trucks this is where the fluid is checked and added.
1687565.jpg
Insert fluid funnel and add transmission fluid until the proper amount of fluid level is reached. Let engine warm and recheck fluid level, add fluid as needed. Do not over fill the transmission, it could foam the fluid and cause low fluid pressure causing premature transmission failure. recheck transmission for leaks and recheck fluid level in a couple of days.

DIAGNOSIS AND TEST FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Before removing the dipstick, wipe all dirt from the area around the dipstick. 3. With the selector lever in "P" (Park) and the parking brake applied, start the engine. 4. The engine should be running at idle speed and the fluid should be at normal operating temperature [80-90°C (176-194°F)]. 5. Move the selector lever to every position to fill the torque converter and hydraulic circuit with fluid, then place the lever in the "N" (Neutral) position. This operation checks that fluid level check is accurate. 6. Check if the fluid level is in the "HOT" range shown on the dipstick. If the fluid is low, add automatic transaxle fluid until the level reaches the "HOT" range.
