Engine dies at 150 degrees.

1999 olds 88 3.8 liter engine. It starts perfectly when cold, but sputters and dies at aprox. 150 deg. I was
in a minor accident t-boned in drivers side rear door about 5 mph. It ran fine
for about 20 miles then started stalling while driving. If I gave it a lot of
gas, it would recover. But now once it is warm, it will die and not restart. The
check engine light does not come on.

    Thank you for responding.
I have replaced the idle air motor, ignition module, and the temperature sensor. It now dies at about 175 degrees.
When it starts to bog down, it will shoot up the rpms then bog down again, then up again, then die.
Thank you very much for your service to our country!

Sounds like its not accident related, more like a idle air control motor or something of that nature, ive also herd of this happening when the crank sensor is going bad, it warms up and starts missing the signal.

Where is the thermostat located on golf v1 1999 1.6,car been standing 6 months worked fine now water not circulating!!!!!!

Heed of antifreeze coolant temperature!!!
First time you might check the thermostat operating.
The thermostat location for VW Golf 1.6 is inside of coolant thermostat housing placed on back side of the cylinder head. See pictures below.
Thermostat checking:
1. Cold engine. Start up the engine and watch of the water temp indicator. After first value 60 Celsius Degree you still warm up the engine until the lifter (pointer) reach 80 C deg. (second mark after 60 C deg.). At this time you let engine running at idle speed and check with your hand the thermostat plastic housing and hose temperature in bottom left side of the engine. Heed of alternator driving belt and ventilator fan !!!
2. If the thermostat is good the hose must be cold until the water temp indicator reach almost 90 C deg.
3. The thermostat opening temperature is 87 C deg.
4. If the hose is already warm the thermostat is out of order.

Thermostat location, Part number: 032121110B, in german - "Kuehlregle" (Price around $20):

My jetta sputters sometimes when im driving

I recently had a similar problem. I got my car scanned and needed a new catalytic converter. If its already starting to spit and sputter, you probably have 3-6 months to get this done. Mine plugged up one day, and just flat out would not drive anymore. This cost of this repair was about (i recommend changing the spark plugs and wires also) $675....pretty costly. could get a lot more expensive the longer u let it go. Does your jetta run cold, in cold temp? (between 25-40 degrees) if so the thermostat probably took out the converter.
