I've got a 2000 DeVille that the A/C is not working right. The driver's side temperature control doesn't seem to work, although the thremostat looks like it is working. It's almost like the flapper in the duct isn't totally closing. The passenger side gets very cool, but not cold as it should. The line going into the cabin is ice cold, so I know the compressor is working properly. Where can I start to trobleshoot this issue?
Check the actuator motor on the heater box inside down by the floor in the center of the car. The motor moves the paddles inside the heater to direct the heat and the ac. It is a small motor and on your car with climate control there is probably two of the motors. One for the passenger side and one for the driver side.

heater radiator blocked or partially blocked, drain antifreeze and save ,remove the inlet and outlet pipes for teh heater and flush in both directions repeatedly .brown rust should come out,if not a lot comes out then fit two pieces of pipe about a foot long to heater unit pipes and mix some caustic soda and pour in one pipe with a funnel till it comes up in other pipe leave for a while then flush again and you might need to repeat this two or three times

hopefully its only a broken linkage on the heater air box. this is loscated in the cabin under the dash board in front of where a passengers feet would go.
Another possibilty may be a broken controler. these are usually available for $75.00 from the junk yard. try "carparts.com"

The lines should be differant sizes.. Did you check it? Ther should be a diagram on the cover over your radiator showing you the set up.. Hope this helps..

Hello: You have a failed temperature control actuator for the passenger air mix door. Remove the glove box and the close out panel under the dash on the passenger side. You will see two silver rods going from the actuators (mounted on the top and bottom of the heater/a/c programmer) Turn key on (engine off) Turn the a/c heater control on. Go from 60 to 90 or 90 to 60 and watch the rods the one that doesn't move is the failed one. The actuator is held in place by two 7mm screws and one electrical connector. When installing the new actuator have the temp set at 60 when you hook up the linkage. The passenger side set at full cold.
