Cooling fan won't work

I finally got my 2.4t S60 started thanks to Rachel and dav1958 after tested the fuel pressure. I added comments to the site but no reply so I'm posting this question - now my cooling fan won't work after I got the car started and after I replaced the leaked radiator with a new radiator. Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance

Hello,

cooling fan not working could be a lot of things.

first , test the fan itself, put a direct 12 volts to the fan terminal and watch if it would run.( be careful of the blades ), if it does not run, could be carbon brush. replace if necessary.

if it runs, check relay circuits. one for A/C and the other one for high temperature of engine.

check also for fuses with label " cooling fan" or "radiator fan". check all fuses just to be sure.

tnx 4 using Fixya,

It will try to start when adding feul to the carb. But dies out right after on my 1985 chevy celeberty wagon .

As Steve said you need the fuel pressure checked . The cooling fan can be the coolant sensor, relay, fuse, wiring, connection or fan motor . Does the fan run with AC switched ?

My 2001 Volvo s60,cut off while driving, replaced battery, added 2 quarts of oil, because it was also low on oil, now it crank but won't stay cranked

Sounds like a fuel pump to me. Have your fuel pressure tested with a fuel pressure guage to eliminate a fuel delivery problem. If it cut off while driving, thats a likely culprit.

Won't start after sitting for a few days

Could be loosing fuel pressure thru the pressure regulator or the valve in the fuel pump. The pressure should hold for several days when the engine is off.
I would have the fuel pressure tested before and after you try to start the engine.

Fuel pump stays on, car won't start, good fuel pressure in manifold, good spark to plugs

Car won't start has something to do with the fuel (i think) . i checked the filler but gas comes rushing out then the key is turned, was running low on gas when car turned off .i added 3 gal. car...

Thanks for choosing Fixya and welcome. It may need primed. Worth a try. Turn the key on for 10 seconds and off, repeat about 6-8 times. You could have bad injectors(fuel). Make sure your fuel pump is working. Try hitting the gas tank to see if it will start. Your fuel pump may be going out. Check your fuel pressure. If the check engine light is on, try getting the codes for it. You could have an issue with the ignition system, such as plugs, coils, wires, distributor, coil packs, cam sensor, crank sensor, computer, ect. Many thing can cause a no start. That is why the codes are so crucial. Try hitting the tank though. Fuel pumps will go in and out right before they go out for good. Best wishes. Any questions, just ask me.

Having trouble to start the van, battery, starter all seems to

check your battery cables. Make sure they dont pull out of the lugs and make sure they are grounded properly as this will cause you this problem. had similar experience not long ago.

Check the alternator to. You can take it in and have it tested or jump start it and disconnect your battery and see if it dies. IF it dies then the alternator is bad.

Volvo Cooling sensor / fan arent working

Take it one step at a time. First, replace the coolant sensor and try to get the car to start WITH the sensor connected. Make sure that you DO NOT use any teflon tape when installing the switch (this will isolate the switch which will not ground it, making it not work). Th computer receives signals from numerous sensors, and makes adjustments according to inputs received. When the computer gets a signal that the car is still cold, it will adjust the fuel/air ratio to make it run richer (more fuel than air). Once the car is running it will run rough due to a improper mixture since the computer is never sensing the car is warmed up since the sensor is unplugged. This will also account for the slow start due to a richer fuel mixture.
