Honda CRV 2003 Heat/A.C. fan Fault

No fan
Have powered fan up and it runs
When AC is on and the fan switch is on, the AC lights up

I have a 2002 CRV manual, 125K kilometers (Australian model). The fan stopped working 2 days ago. All the fuses are ok, Swapped relays, removed fan, test ran fan, seems a bit tight, was pulling 2.9 Amps. When the ingition is first turned on 12v is present at the connection block to fan (however this is registered on the multimeter with no load). Upon switching the fan speed controller on, with the A/C on, I can hear the control relay energize, the thermo fan starts, this all lasts for about 5 seconds then stops. I put a dummy load on the fan connection block (tail light globe). the load removed voltage. Upon reconnection of the fan, then turning on the ingion, the fan speed selection switch off, the fan moved slightly then stopped, turning the fan switch on, the control relay and thermo fan didn't energize, and is no load voltage was reading zero.

I would suspect some sort of electronic control device has failled, has a built-in over current safety shut down. Does anybody have a detailed schemetic diagram to trace the circuit? As it is summer here, the missus and kids miss the A/C, the service agents are booked solid, and I would be good to get a few clues on this.

    Thanks, Peter

Honda 2003 CRV ( 120,000Km Aust. model ) I have the same problem today I turned the fan on and the magnetic A/c clutch under the bonnet cut in and out but no fan at all , all the lights on the dials are working on the center console controls, so I have removed the resistor and will replace this. ( I dropped open the glove compartment and can reach one of the screws using a phillips head driver with success the second screw holding the resistor in is hard to reach I drilled a 10mm hole in the plastic so the screwdriver can get a straight lineup and I can easily get to the screw now ) I unplugged the connector and removed the resistor without problems..now to see how much I'm going to get ripped off by the Honda Dealer...

I lost the link for this thread, Thanks for posting ED. There was some great help on this problem at this site. the fault ended up being a thermal fuse in the fan speed control moduel (black box in the a/c ducting next to the fan) $3 fix!

It is likely the resistor or the dial itself. My 2001 with 77K on it started doing the same thing (and it's -11F out).

2014 Honda CRV. The problem is after 20 min. of air flow it stops flowing, but the fan is still working and I still have heat and AC but no air flow out the vents

Is the air blowing out of the defrost or heater vents? My thought is it has to be going somewhere if the blower is on, so it would likely be a faulty climate control unit or blend door motor shifting it to the incorrect position. If I can assist further, reach me at https://www.6ya.com/thericepatch

1997 Honda CRV temperature gauge spikes to Hot

You have to thank the Gauge that shuts down your engine when hot bec. it wont knock...you have to clean your radiator and see if the coolant inside it run through the radiator holes to the engine water jacket to make sure your engine will not over heat...For the fans, find the fan relay...it's under the hood in the fuse box...

Ac and heat fan

If the fan wont turn on for either AC or when the vehicle is hot enough to activate then replace fan.
You can test the fan by supplying power to it's plug first. If it runs you may have a sensor fault or even a broken power supply or earth.check these too.
