Engine miss #1, comprestion 140,new coil pack ,wires ,plugs, timing belt, water pump, no codes, fuel filter, fuel psi is 45,insected came ok even replaced lifters on #1. changed injectors , got good clicking on all injecters fuel trim is 2% to-2% .
Ck for leak at intake. if no leak pcm/ecm may be sending fire command to slow to # 1 . the fuel injector is always hot the ecm sends a ground to the injector. even new parts can be bad ck inj, with ohm meter resistance should be the same between each inj. im not sure of the specifications but they should read the same my jimmy specs are 1.9-2.1 any other reading is bad . no resistance or lower or higher readings my injector would be bad. 140 is good reading, timing can be off a little and still run but rough like a miss. a code wont set most misfires will set a dtc or flash the engine light to let you know damage to cat system is happening , to much fuel a system rich,to little a lean. a bad mass airflow meter can also cause a misfiring or rough idle ck with scanner if dirty clean with brake cleaner first before replacing . hope this helps some let me know how it goes.

Hi, I would check for a vacume leak around your intake manifold #1 cylinder runner. You can check by using a stethescope with a small piece of brake line in the end of the hose or spraying propane around the intake. If you hit a vacume leak the RPM will drop. Vacume leakes normaly cause a higher RPM at idle.

check the feul injector on that cylinder. use a stethoscope to listen to it. injector should make a clicking noise as it operates. if it doesnt click, check the wiring at the terminal. if the wiring is ok then apply a 9 volt battery to the prongs on the injector to check if it is working or not. if the injector for that cylinder is not operating properly then the cylinder will missfire. if the injector and its wiring is good, check the valve clearance with a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary. if the valves are good then test the compression of the cylinder.

According to Gates ( they manufacture timing belts ) the 2.3 L engine in a 1994
Ford Ranger is NOT an interference engine, so the valves would not make contact with the piston. If you have good spark and compression then replace or service your fuel injector for that cylinder. A red neck repair is to tap on a long extension touching the fuel injector while the engine is running. It may free up whatever is clogging it....If the injector still functions. Go easy on the cheap plastic that the injector is made of. also check for a good signal to the injector, and look for any corrosion on the plug.
