2004 volvo s80 winshield washer fluid not pumping

I can hear the pump working when I try to pump winshield fluid, but nothing comes out. Of course I filled the washer fluid reservoir, but nothing is coming out. I can hear the pump working, but not sure if that is the problem. Where do I start?

Sprayers are clogged up. You can clean out the sprayers with a needle, some have two holes so look carefully.

SOURCE: How to replace electric fuel pump on Volvo S80

It helps to pump out the fuel in the tank if possible, to lighten the load. You'll need to remove the fuel tank from under the car & lower it to the ground and get it into position to work on. Care must be exercised so as not to crimp any lines & to keep any sparks/flames away. An empty tank will explode more easily than a full tank will. The Fuel Pump with the float & any sensors & a fuel sock/filter is the assembly & all are removed in one unit, from the top of the tank by loosening the assembly, the hoses, and disconnecting the plug in.

Once removed, if you are replacing the entire assembly, you may want to check the inside of the tank for debris that you can remove at this point, then reinsert the new assembly as a unit into the exact position it was mounted before. Note the float position as it can't be crimped/jammed or you will have no fuel gauge. (digital camera option-take pictures to review later before & during removal) Once you've got it back into the car & added the fuel back in, or if it has enough still in it, you'll need to prime the fuel system by turning your ignition off & on for a few seconds at a time. You'll hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to on, leave the key there until you hear the pump stop & wait a few seconds, repeat. This will fill up the fuel system. You may want to take the time to get you a new fuel filter, if you do & replace it, fill it 1/3 full before installing with fuel injector cleaner and you'll give your injectors a good cleaning. Might sputter just a few seconds-no more. good luck.

Check and verify that you indeed have the winshield washer tank filled if the tank is filled make sure the winshield washer hoses are attached to the washer nozzles under the hood if all of this checks out you probably have a bad windshield washer pump...

The winshield washer fluid won't work, but it sounds like I can hear the little motor when I push the end of the wiper blade switch

Push the washer fluid button and hold it for 20 sec then look under the truck and seeif you see the washer fluid dripping on to the ground, if theres no sign of the washer fluid then you have a bad washer pump, which is located on the side of the washer bottle, if theres fluid dripping then you will need to follow the line, start at the washer nozzles, this is where it breaks the most, if the line is plastic you can use a peice of rubber hose that size and connect the broken line back together with the hose, hope this helps.

Volvo v50 washer fluid doesn't spray

Hi, their are a couple of common problems here.
but first of all check the following.
can you heat the pump come on when you press the button for the washer, if you cant hear it from in the car open the bonnet and get someone to press the button and listen for the pump if you hear it then you know the pumps working if you dont hear anything then the pump needs replacing.

if neither the front or back windows work and the pumps make no sound for front or back washer then your next stop would be the fuse box, check all the fuses and replace any blown fuses then try the washers.

If how ever you can hear the pump working then the problem is going to be one of 2 things the most common is going to be that the water jets are blocked to unblock them get a small needle and poke into the holes where the water comes out of then try the washer, if it still dont work then the problem is the other end at the washer botlle, you will find the pipe by the pump has gelled up due to the cleaning fluid you put into the washer bottle so what you now need to do is remove the washer bottle and the pumps and give the pipes a good clean out to ensure they are not blocked.

i hope i have given you some things to check

Winshield Washer Fluid extremely low pressure

The washer pump is located in the right front fender, mounted infront of the wheel. Remove the front portion of the wheel well splash cover to gain excess. This pump does the work for the front and rear washers. Verify that the pump is working and then check for a pinched hose.
However, if you hear the pump working,as you say, open the hood and take the hoses off the squirter nozzles to see if there is good flow of fluid. If there is, then your nozzles are plugged. You may be able to clean them out with some air pressure. Careful working with the nozzles, as they are plastic and break easy.

My windshield washer fluid resevoir is full but I don't get any fluid when I try to clean my windows. I checked the spray ports and they are not clogged. I'm not sure what to check next. With the bad...

I expect that you have two different pumps. One for your headlights and one for the winshield. So making the following test, turn off your headlights and try to get washer in your windshield. If you hear the sound of a pump then the line is disconnected or clogged somewhere. If you don't hear anything then the pump is bad. Not hard to replace (should be attached to the reservoir), not very expensive I would say $60 in auto part store)
Hope it will help

Washer fluid doesn't come out when button pushed on turn signal

If the fuse is not blown, the pump assembly needs replacement.
Verivy 12VDC at the pump when switch activated.
Check your manual or back of the fusebox for location of the washer fuse.

Sounds like a bad washer pump .The windshild washer pump is sometimes mounted to the bottom of you washer container, sometime there inline with the washer hose .. Did you have to reconnect wires when you put in the new winshield washer container in? Also before you go buy a new one i would check to see if you have any voltage to the pump when you activate switch..
Please rember to leave me a good rating if I've helped you ! Thankyou .Let me know!
