Idle varies between 1500 and 4000 rpm. Change the throttle position sensor. No difference. Disconnected the idle air control valve and the idle speed dropped to 'normal', but the engine runs rough. Cleaned the iacv, but no difference.

My car when it's turned on it revs really high but when I put on my A/C not so much. But I can't put in neutral because it revs up to 4 or 5 rpms

Weeeeiiirrdddd. i have a 2001 hyundia elentra gls, and my third cylinder is misfiring as well. my car also revs constantly on idle and in between shifting. it will flutter between 2-3000 or it will just stay at 5000. i replaced my plugs and wires to no fix with my cylinder. autozone also told me that it sounds like my throttle position sensor needs replaced, but every part they try to sell me will not fit and they swear up and down this is the right part...

I have a hyundai elantra 2001 and the rpm goes up high when I turn on the car. It also stays high while driving at some point it will go down and the car jerks into another gear.....I have replaced the throttle position sensor, input/output speed sensor, the IAC, checked the valcum holes for any leaks and I'm still having this problem. The check engine light stays on all the time because of this on going problem. Please help I've done spent a lot of money and my problem still is not fixed.

Its the intake manifold gasket. I have an 01 elentra that did the same thing and I replaced that and now it runs perfect.

2001 hyundai elantra goes in2 reverse but won't go backwards all other gears r perfect

Most automatic transmissions have a separate belt for reverse and all forward gears, The reverse belt is commonly lighter duty that the forward belt (some Chryslers were affected so much it was advised to not shift into reverse until the engine had warmed up and the automatic choke idled down) Thus your car would be in "reverse" but with no motion getting to the gears.

Idles high from first to second gear .

Define idles high like its going high rpms before shifting or the engine itself is high reving if its high rpming when shifting its mostly you tranny going out you can try tranny fix oil I used it on my truck when it had shifting problems and ive had no problems since it takes a few days to work though and if its the motor itself it could be a lot of things but I dont know much of the problem based on what you told us

2001 HYANDAI ELENTRA car was stuck in 3rd gear changed turn signal fuse was blown changed fuse work fine for a short time then then fuse blowed again then trans stop shiftinh again i changed the output...

I would suspect you have a short in the wiring to the transmission or the shift solenoid inside the ****** is shorted. Only way to know for sure is to get the wiring diagrams and trace down and inspect all the wiring that the fuse powers.

Check your butterfly it may be getting stuck or your plastic housing may be coming in contact with the butterfly. Also check your wire running from your gas pedal to your carborator.at a little wd40

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak or a bad IAC motor.

High Idle when shifting. It goes up and down idle on it own.

dear friend-the hyundai products has the future of returning to idle slowly so any changes wil not bring it down quicker unless you can find away to confuse the ecu.
