On a k2500 2004 Burb after driving a distance, I am getting a "heavy tire noise" from the front end. mostly after a distance on the highway. I am suspicious of the front bearing(s) It is sometimes worse when in a left bend in hway. any ideas? and if it is the bearing(s) how difficult a job is this?
Wheel bearing can be a big job without the correct tools. Better to pay a good mechanic.
Assuming your Burb is a 4X4, My first suggestion is get ALL of your wheels and tyres checked. Make sure they are inflated to the correct pressure, the tyres aren't damaged or badly worn and they are all balanced.
Next, jack up the car and REST IT ON AXLE STANDS. Your going to be shaking the car around!
DON'T JUST USE A JACK!!! It will fall off!
Once the wheels are off the ground, Spin the wheel by hand with a bit of force and listen to the wheel. A bad bearing will produce a 'gritty' sound. A brake disc noise will have more of a 'ring' to it.
Grab the wheel top and bottom, and push and pull in a rocking action. Do the same at the left and right positions. If you feel movement or here a 'clonk' noise get the whole suspension checked by a good mechanic. The above test shows if there's any play in the ball joints as well.
I would also suggest you get the drive shaft CV joints checked. Worn ones make noise when cornering.

I had similar problem with my 03 trailblazer. It had a low dull hum in the front end with a little vibration being felt in gas pedal. Noise increased over a couple weeks and was louder turning to the left and quiter turning to right. A GM mechanic friend of mine replaced the front right hub and took care of the problem. Hub was about $160 at Autozone.

Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.

You must replace wheel bearings in pairs to avoid loading the old bearing and, in time ruining your new bearing hub it is possible that you have already damaged the new hub
