Raise the vehicle off the ground, wiggle front tires left and right, excessive play tells you tie rods, up and down tells the wheel bearing condition, but have another set of eyes looking on the inside while wiggling tires, too see excessive play. Lower ball joint can be seen during this test. And make sure wheel spins freely, siezed brake calipers can make higher speeds shake too. Lastly look at centre drive shaft condition. Hope this solves thr mystery. HTV Auto Body

MAZDA CX9 STEERING FRONTEND , STEERING VIBRATES AT 1300 RPM, IN 4 & 5 GEAR, 6 GEAR OR HIGHWAY IS GOOD

This could be a few things. Does the vibration happen only when your moving or when you've stopped as well. Is it above a set road speed as well as RPM? Vibrations can smooth out as road speed gets higher.
The first, and cheapest, thing to check is your wheels and tyres. Get them re-balanced as a missing tyre weight can cause vibration. Also get the Tracking and alignment checked. If one or both wheels aren't lined up properly vibration occurs and it wears out your tyres faster.
If those are correctly set, get all the joints in the suspension checked as a worn ball joint or bushing will cause juddering.
Finally get the brake system examined. Badly worn brake pads and warped discs can also cause wobble.

Vibration in 1998 town car

The transmission in your car is the 4R70W model, and i've rebuilt hundreds of them through the decades, and the vibration you are likely feeling is in the torque convertor.I call it the "washboard effect",or at least that's what it feels like, running over an old timey washboard, and it can also be described as a shuddering sensation,or chattering.Inside the torque convertor is a clutch that engages to eliminate fluid slippage within the convertor, thus making it more efficient, resulting in better fuel mileage. This clutch becomes weak and slips, and that is what is felt.In most cases, the vibration is felt at speeds of 40 mph and higher.Ford and Lincoln dealers have a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out about this, and they advise changing the fluid by dropping the pan,and pulling the drain plug in the torque convertor, changing the fluid to a Ford specification fluid, and adding a highly friction modified supplement to the fluid to prevent the washboarding. In most cases,it solves the problem, but in some cases the torque convertor must be replaced.Good luck
