have a lock smith cut a new key, the original key might have worn down where it wont hit the points in the keys cylinder. that is the first thing I would try since its the most common problem with the ions.
What you will need to do is place a rag or towel on the inside and actually kick the door lightly from the inside. It will open. after you get the door open remove the inside door panel and inspect your lock rods. Check and see if they have come disconnected from your door lock actuator. I hope this helps and gives you somewhere to start.
the anti theft thing will come on and prevent starting for a while if it believes it is attempting to be stolen. even something silly like someone bumping it could possibly cause that. now if it does it at your house in a locked garage or something...

It is a common problem on Saturn Ion... You have to replace the pass lock switch. The cost of the part is around $65.00 cdn. It is located behind the key switch.
