I removed and cleaned the valve body on my 97 Olds Bravada transmission. Now I don't have reverse. I also can not move the vehicle in the reverse direction even in neutral when the vehicle is not running. The vehicle will move forward in drive, however, I am not moving too far being it is in the driveway and I don't have much room to move. But it does move forward. When I put it in reverse when it is running, I can tell it is in gear just not moving. It is like trying to move with the parking brake on. I am thinking this is something mechanical because I can not move the vehicle when it is not running and in neutral. It will roll forward in neutral but backwards. It is move about 1 inch back and stop like it is in park. Any suggestions? It has me baffled. I have taken this apart 3 times trying to figure it out. I have done this disassembly and cleaning and reassembling about a year ago and everything went fine. I didn't do anything different this time, but now have this problem. I am a mechanic just never did tranny work.
thanks,
John
Stupid question here, but did you put the valve body in backwards or upside down? Ensure all the connectors, lines are good....outside of that how about the gear selector? I have done alot of tranny work myself, but some of these things are common mishaps that I have done myself. Good luck to you and let us know what you come up with. Thanks for using Fixya!
Sincerely,
JC

Bad TPS will give you a SES light. Possible low fuel pressure from bad fuel pump. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the service port close to the firewall, should stay above 50 psi when juicing the gas. Only use OEM parts on a Bravada! Try "thepartsladi" store on eBay.

I had the same thing happen ended up replacing the whole transmission with a GM rebuilt trans. It had all the updates installed and so far no more problems worth it for me.
