Timing can be tricky on any vehicle. Most times they all show the same characteristics. It's been my experience that when timing is off one of two things will take place. Either the vehicle will turn over and over and over (meaning the engine) but won't start or if it does start in will run really rough instead of smoothly. If your Jag s-type is running roughly it doesn't necessarily mean the timing is off. could be bad spark plugs, wires, coil packs, or could even be a fuel related problem. I would go with the cheapest solution first and if that doesn't fix it I would work my way through the other mentioned issues working toward the more expensive as a last resort.
SOURCE: want to buy s type jag but i need to know what type gas it uses
As per the Jag manual, minimum octane to put in is 91. You may get away with putting in 89 and then every 3 or 4th time, put in 91 (or higher).
SOURCE: replace condenser on 2000 s type jag
FIRST OF ALL YOU HAVE TO TAKE CAR TO DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN DISCHARGE AND RECOVER THE REFRIGERANT.THEN YOU CAN TAKE CAR HOME REMOVE THE RADIATOR TOP SUPPORT THEN REMOVE CONDENSORS LINES THEN CONDENSOR.GO TO DEALERSHIP TO BUY CONDENSOR LINES ORINGS LUBRICATE WITH R134 REFRIGERANT OIL.PUT NEW CONDENSOR.TAKE IT TO A GARAGE LET THEM PUMP IT DOWN ALL MOISTURE OUT OF SYSTEM CHECK FOR LEAKS THEN CHARGE IT BACK UP THIS WOULD BE THE CHEAPER WAY.
SOURCE: does the s type jag 2000 model v6 have a timing
The 2000 Jaguar S-Type 3.0L 6-cylinder engine uses a timing chain. Here is a picture: http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/parts/2000/jaguar/s_type/timing_belts_chains_covers/genuine_timing_chain.html?3593=102084
