I have the same problem on a Prius 2013 which is new. I've had it to the dealer many times. Front tires were replaced. Tires were balanced several times. Toyota says this is normal. I had a 2008 Prius which did not have this problem. No way is this normal to have the car vibrate and shudder between 60 & 70. Above 70 it smooths out. I like to drive at 65 and that is where the vibration is the worst. I can feel it in the steering wheel, the seat and the floor. My GPS on the dash shakes back and forth
SOURCE: oscillating vibration around 60-70 mph in 6th gear
sounds like a cv joint to me. That is what usually occurs when one is showing wear. C.V joints usually wear out between 80,000 and 120,000 k.m.
SOURCE: car doesnt seem to vibrate much at 20-30 MPH but
Check the wheel for balance and improper tread wear. If you did not hit anything...like a pot holes recently, you may find it is just a defective/damaged tire. Hard to say at this point.
SOURCE: Tire Vibration
I had the same problem. Vibrations start around 40mph, up through 60 . seems to be ok when I am off the accelerator. The problem was not dirty ETM rather a busted passenger side cv boot and axle. Fixed it and the problem is gone. The part from Volvo its expensive. Over $500. But OEM part can be had for less than $200. I have a 2003 s60 T5.
SOURCE: what would cause my ford explorer to have a vibration come and go while driving between 60 and 70
This vibration can be caused by a number of things, may be in the tires or in the front end or in the drive train, ( transmission, transfer case or the diffirental). I would start with the basics, make sure all tire pressures are equal and tire balancing is good.
If there is still a vibration at 60-70 then i would have the front end checked.Check for worn or loose ball joints or worn tie rod ends and other steering suspension components.
