It has to be somewhere else , not in the console, glovebox or drivers door, this is GM worse model escalade because it has no key hole in the outside truck door, and both the glass trunk window and trunk door depend on the latch and lock mechanism working which you cannot get to unless you climb through the truck which has a 3rd row seat and try to unscrew the plastic inside truck door trim .
I have a 2005 Escalade and I have the same problem...FIY you cannot open it any other way besides with the remote or unlock button inside on door panels....on the new ones they must have realized how stupid they were to not put a key hole on the trunk so now they have keyholes on the trunk but that does not HELP ME!! (all cars not yours) 1: crawl true rear set , hole,behind seat. 2: if electric latch, hot wire it. 3: if cable latch. find a way to get to cable and yank the casing hard, while person 2 tries to open the trunk. 4: drill out the key hole, then usiing a screw driver open the trunk. 5: drive to any lock shop smith. and ask em. its trivial. A; they (smith) have working keys, or can make keys or can pick the lock or failing all that do #4.
I would check the owners manual or with Cadillac - its possible the remotes lost part of the signal and need to be reset. It sounds like the receiver is not getting a signal from them by using that button. Could be the receiver too.
Before you take it to a shop, pop the hood & locate the relay center under a plastic cover. There may be a relay for the trunk solenoid that is bad. murf427
This is the key security system. Somehow youv'e set it off. Used the wrong key tried to open the door with the alarm on. Opened the door or trunk from the inside after locking it from the outside. If your the real owner of the car it'll be no problem to get it fixed. If you have the correct key lock the doors from the outside with the key and lock it twice ( the doors ( all of them ) should lock). Leave the car alone for a minute, maybe 5. Then unlock the door twice, all the doors should unlock the second time. Enter the car and start it with the key. If you with a remote door lock fob that can work too. If this fails then try a different door or even the trunk. Sometimes the driver doorlock switch wears out or gets ice in it and unlocking a different door or useing the remote can get you going again.
the dealer gave you a ignition key, instead of valet key.
valet key should open the driver door and ignition. nothing else. if the key can't ope the door. try the trunk. if it open the trunk, the it is a wrong key.
the frame on the drivers side door as you look down, there is a button the pops the trunk. However, if you cannot open it with the remote, it is not likely that this will work as it uses the same mechanism to open the latch. I would definitely unlock the doors with the key, go to the trunk and make sure the the lock is in the "unlocked state", ad press the button in, it should just open
