I am working on a replacement motor that will come with a new gear/shaft on it. I have one of my setups in the car right now and have the parts for another one ordered. I hope to make a video of the repair in a couple weeks when the parts show up. Still uses plastic gears, but these are larger, more durable gears and the swap is fairly straight forward with just a few modifications.

GM put plastic gears on the seat motors, and the teeth strip off. I have same problem with my 02 Park Ave. On another site I found someone making replacement brass gears to put on existing motors that still work. I have not contacted them yet so don't know if they will work. GM only sells whole track units for over $800 for each side

You probably won't be able to. Just slide the seat all the way back, remove the front bolts, then move the seat all the way forward and remove the back bolts, you can then remove the seat completely to perform your repair.

SOURCE: power seat, driver side

If only one seat is not working the fuse/relay is ok or both would not work, most likely cause based on experience is the control switch, then the power seat motor.

SOURCE: 1985 buick riviera power seat wont move back

You have a damaged drive gear in the seat, the parts are no longer sold for this ol of a model so your best bet is to try and locate a used one.

2009 impala driver side power seat won't move up/down, makes whirring sound when attempted. Moves forward backward. Passenger seat works properly.

Before you do any of the expensive things disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the seat I had the same exact problem with my 2009 Chevy Impala and was ready to take it to the dealer when I disconnected the power cables to it and reconnected them I found that one of the Harnesses was loose and the problem was solved

Hi everyone I own a CLK200 Kompressor 2002 model. I have the following problem, driver seat moving forward when pressing backward function on the power seat button. I already checked the fuse in the trunk...

First try as fallow, get in to the seat, then keep tight your foot on floor and give a good press backward to the seat and operate the seat switch towards back, just release and do it again keep going that way it will start to move back words, if it start to move do it few time and do it every time you get in to the car at least two time per day continue it for one week, It will be OK otherwise need chassis no for more information,

Chevy Malibu power adjustable driver's seat stuck

If the seat is not moving forward or backward, but you do hear a click or a motorsound- chances are that you dropped in some change or other debris may be blockling the way. You might also have blown a fuse - look for fuse no. 30, which is a 30 Amp fuse.
Once you've checked all that and if the motor still does not run, then the problem may be with your wiring.
Wire colors between the switch panel and motor are:
• Fore/aft-Tan and Lt Green
• Front up/down-Dark Green and Dark Blue
• Rear up/down-Yellow and Light Blue
• Recline up/down motor's Blue and Light Green

You can move the drivers seat back by turning on the power, getting in the seat and position your feet firmly on the fron flor with your back firmly against he seatback, and then engage the switch pushing back - while pushing like hell with your feet. You can actually hear the seat drive shaft turning while the seat moves back. The principle should be the same for moving forward, but pressure would have to be aplide to the back of the seat.

Broken power seat - cannot slide backward. Can I slide it manually?

Ck for debri or other objwcts in way of tracks Does it try to move? If so, there is an obstruction, If not trying or no sound when switch is moved, could very well be a fuse or the forward limit switch is being affected by excess forward travel. Move the switch yo back and without kinda help it. if it's trying.

The drivers seat is stuck. It won't move forward or backward but all other seat functions work fine. hi and please help..I have the same problem with the driver seat..it will go up and down and the back...

I'm assuming this is a power seat. If so, there are separate motors that control the various functions of the seat such as forward/backard, recline, lumbar support, etc. It could be that the motor or an electrical connection to the motor for the forward/backward motion is faulty. Normally all of the motors would be on the same power circuit, so if some of the functions are working then it is probably not a blown fuse.

Just one other personal observation, I have actually seen an instance where some loose pocket change had spilled under the seat and a quarter had become wedged in the track that the seat slides in and had jammed the tracks so tightly that the seat would not move.

One thing to note is whether or not you hear anything when you try to move the seat forward/backward. If you hear a click or a buzz when you press the button then that could mean that something is physically jamming the seat tracks. If you don't hear anything when you press the button, then that more than likely means a problem with the motor or the electrical connection to the motor.
