Fighting for gas or air?

When starting the car, it tries to stall when pressing the gas. it sputters while it's running and sometimes cuts off. while driving, i can floor it and it just creeps and won't go past 50 mph. I was told to change the oxygen sensor, or cut off the catalina converter. I truly don't know what to do with my 1990 volvo 240 dl. Plese help

I had similar issues and had the fuel pumps replaced until I found out it was a timing belt skipping .. this fixed it

It sounds like a dirty fuel filter or bad spark plug wires.

1996 Buick Roadmaster rough start sputters and

Check the mass air flow sensor (clean both heated wires with carb cleaner and Q-tip). Remember...cleaning does not always work...sometimes they are actually bad. Also check map sensor. Check for vacuum leaks at all hoses and fittings. If engine rpm drops sufficiently, engine vacuum will drop which may have caused a/c malfunction (controls work with vacuum signal) so I wouldn't worry about that 'till the run problem is dealt with.

1-CHECK FOR GAS COMPRESSION 2-GAS FILTER 3-AIR HOSES 4-CHECK GAS PUMP.
TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE THE PROBLEM CAN BE AIR AND GAS ADJUSTING,IF YOU HAVE TOO MUCH AIR THE GAS WILL SPIT OUT, AND IF YOU HAVE TOO MUCH GAS THE JEEP WILL START BUT BECAUSE YOUR JEEP IS RECIEVING MORE AIR THAN THE JEEP WILL SHUT DOWN.
