Remove the door panel. Panel is attached to the door with clips and screws. Remove screw attached parts such as armrest and other trim. then remove panel clips by using a clip tool so as not to damage the panel. Tool can be found at any auto parts store. After loosening panel carefully remove, wires will be attached. If your switch is in one piece unplug it and insert through hole in panel if it passes right through look for evidence of a retainer. If none is found or if switch is in multiple parts, call dealer parts and ask for new switch. Unplug connector and replace switch.

There are two drain plugs on the bottom of the pan. remove the lower one to drain the trans fluid. To refill, use a pump and pump the fluid into the upper drain plug until it seeps out and re-install the plug, similar to refilling a manual trans.
Once this is done, Start the vehicle and run it for about 3 minutes, shifting through all gears (do not drive vehicle Remove the upper drain plug and let any excess fluid drain out. Done. This is as per Mitchell OnDemand.

I had this happen to a 1999 4x4 LS and my sisters boyfriend mentioned to periodically turn 4x4 on/off at least once a month.
What I did was go down a stretch of road slowly and attempt to turn it on/off till it became unstuck.
Drove around 10 miles on a road that was hardly used...to get the stupid light to quit flashing I had to put it in park and try to creep forward ---while using off settiing or put in park then reverse...while using the off -setting on 4x4. My patience paid off. They get sticky...you must be cautious... because there is a way to cause vibration and then it won't start...some deadman feature that I experienced once and the LWD must have slipped in a little and I had to look at everything.
Mine is an Automatic with the shift on the floor...that can get sticky too.
Good luck and hope this helps...mine had lots of growing pains but I get 23 mpg and it runs/idles better and the only gremlin left is some short in the dash which leaves the lights D/3 (one or both on)for the shift indicator on:)

This means you need to head to the junk yard and replace the unit that controlls all the windows from the drivers seat. Very simple fix. Good luck
