I have a 2003 Audi a4 3.0 cabriolet. It has 65,000 miles. Yesterday while retracting the top (top down) the system stopped working when it was about 80% complete through the cycle. I followed the owners manual and manually finished retracting the roof system to get home. It won't work anymore. When I press the roof button to "close" the roof - the roof light flashes in the dashboard but nothing happens. No noises, no movement. Help!

Then, within 2 seconds, turn the key to the left again and hold it in this position (RHD vehicles).Opening the soft top Pull up and hold the switch until the soft top is fully open. Closing the soft top Press and hold the switch until the soft top is completely closed. Notes: If the control switch is released during the opening/closing operation, the soft top will stop moving. The soft top is com pletely open/closed when the warning lamp in the instrument cluster goes out. The soft top can only be opened or closed when the ignition is switched on. For information on how to open/close the soft top manually please refer to the Owner’s Manual.
It says:--
The handle/tool needed to accomplish the task 'manually' is located in the fuse box on the LEFT SIDE of the dashboard. A small flat blade screwdriver will enable you to pry open the fuse cover & gain access to the handle/tool. Slight twist the tool and it comes out easily. Tool is a "T" shaped handle.Once you have the handle/tool IN HAND, simply turn the RED part (only) on the handle until it 'locks' in an open position. Leaves a small space on the handle.
If nothing is working then check the switch which you depress to open/close the roof.remove the switch and check the voltage. If its no voltage then the switch is faulty and that needs to be replaced.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this

their should be a tool kit in your car with directions to stick a tool somwhere in the mechanism and turn or unlock certain steps as you close and lock the top secured in place manually.
