2000 grand am- wont stay running

My car will start occasionally but it will not idle for more than a minute or if im driving it will just completely shut off. my battery is good and i changed fuel filter but i still cant figure out what the remaining problem is. it seems simple, but im not a mechanic, please help.

same problem, was told it was a flaw in the security, mechanic said to disconect the battery for two hours, and reconnect, turn it over, then try again in another two hours??? sound right??

It Sounds Like A Fuel Supply Problem. Which Means It Might Be Your Fuel Pump. Check Your Fuse's And Battery Connections Before You Start Getting Into Dropping The Tank And Replacing It.. I Had A 94 mercury That Would Run In The Winter But Would Shut Off While Im Driving Down The Road In The Summer. When It Would Shut Off I'd Listen To My Car. Turn The Key On For 4 Seconds And Off for 2 and Have Someone Listening To The Gas Tank. The Pump Should Make A Constant Tone. If The Tone Changes up and down or if you hear grinding. theres your problem. a basic electric fuel pump for a car should turn on for 3-5 seconds and shut off when you turn the key on. NOT STARTING IT.

2000 jeep grand cherokee has sluggish idle sometimes doesnt stay started

You could possibly have a bad EGR valve which would affect the vacuum which affects the idle. Check for a vacuum leak first then check the egr valve

Why my Aztek wont stay running

Put a Fuel Gauge on the Fuel System, see what is happening if the Pressure is dropping below 40 PSI, there is your answer. If it stays, then you have an Electrical issue.

Is the cam counter bad would that make it fire out of time

Cam Sensor? Not sure exactly but will make for harder starts and even an occasional no start situations. Also rough running idle and poor performance.

When i start my jeep in the cold mornings it starts up but bogs right down and stalls then i have to accelerate for the second start up for a few minutes to warm it up a little and then it bogs and stays...

Your only problem friend, is the temperature sending unit/sensor. Upon cold start, this sensor wil tell the computer to go into cold start mode putting a bit more fuel in and raising the idle a bit to keep it running when cold without using the throttle. Replace that sensor and your good to go. Makes sense, right?
