Switch turned to 4-wheel high or low and nothing happens, truck is F 150 2005 model

Try putting the transmission in Nuetral and shifting into High not 4 wheel drive. Best of luck

check switch first ,by pass it and see if problem ceases

Normally 4 wheel drive HIGH is engaged on the fly or as you are moving more than 10 km per hour or 10 miles per hour but 4 wheel drive LOW is engaged at around 3 to 5 mph. no more or you could ruin the transfer case. Try going from 2 high to 4 high by switching back and forth and then try 2 high to 4 low when idling along. What usually happens is the mechanics under the car freeze up or rust up and you have to switch back and forth to free it up.

check the wires on switch it may be loose or disconnected...

I had this same problem a few years ago. In my case I didn't use the 4 Wheel Drive very often and the tranfer would hang in 2 Wheel. I fixed mine by tapping on the transfer case with a hammer while my wife switched back and forth from 2 Wheel to 4 Wheel.

start truck leave in park press 2 wheel high button put truck in drive move truck,check for being in 2 wheel high, if still in 4 wheel low have switch and shift solenoid checked

Sounds like either a vacuum leak or the electric motor on the transfer case is going out.

I have recently had this problem with a customer. It seems the 4x4 low will only engage in neutral with the brake applied. And also check fuse. Then select drive and you will feel it lock in. Don't "goose" the fuel when attempting this.

4x4 low function will only engage when vehicle is stopped in neutral with foot on brake. try that

reset the 4x4 computer by pulling out the courtesy lamp fuse and the ATC fuse for 1 minute then reinstall both fuses then cycle the key on and off 5 times. if this works please rate.
