Oil not getting toward top near valves..sounds like a diesel engine but it is getting some at crank. i cant afford a $100 pump and was told you could bypass original pump with a kit you could install near filter that would feed it to top. Whats the name of kit, is it costly, and difficult to install? Thanks in advance, Ronnie
To start with, I assume you have a warning light instead of an oil gauge.
You could check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge.
The problem with low oil pressure can be the pump and also bad crank bearings. The bearings can be worn enough to loose most of the oil pressure before the oil gets up to the top of the engine.
The problem with pumping oil up to the top is it needs to be in the passages of the block to get to the crank and cam bearings, not just on the cam itself.
So even replacing the oil pump may not fix the issue.

cant start deisel 3.0 lilter sounds like there is no fuel getting to the engine

It sounds like the fuel is gelled, is it cold where you are and what are running for fuel? If your in freezing weather you should be running blended fuel, straight No.2 will gel at about 25 degrees (F). Take a hair dryer or heat gun and warm the fuel filter up. Or if you can get in warm garage and get it started thin the diesel with kerosene, about 2 gallons to 20 gallons of diesel. Then drive it for at least five miles so the kerosene gets circulated through the system. I've used gasoline to do this too, but only use about 1 gallon to 20 gallons of diesel.
SOURCE: I have a 1996 isuzu rodeo 6 cylinder with 159t
Did you ask why the crank pulley needs replaced?
That unit is a solid piece of steel and I can't imagine what could go wrong with it unless it was damaged when it was removed when the timing belt was changed.
I have a 1997 Rodeo with 163,000 miles. It still is running but is showing its age. My son owned a 1995 model and went over 200,000 on it. Both vehicles suffered from excessive rust in the undercarriage.
If you are paying a mechanic to fix that vehicle, I'd propose that it is more expensive to keep running than it is worth.
Again, ask why he wants to replace the crank pulley. If the vehicle runs OK as it is, and his answer is not coherent, skip this repair and drive it for the life it has left with minimal repairs only.
SOURCE: 97 Isuzu Trooper loud ticking in the top end,
it has rocker arms, with something called hydrologic lash adjusters that push the valves. replace all the ones with collapsed "buttons", and change your timing belt hydrolic tensioner, they make alot of noise when they go out.
SOURCE: my isuzu truck mixes diesel and engine oil. what is the cause?
the injector are along top of engine , the lines all run back to a pump usually attached to engine side, only unit with multiple metal tubes running out to engine top, removal of injectors requires some special tools. this requires good diesel knowledge and tools to repair either one.
