G6 dome light assembly replacement

check for power and ground at the dome light. if one is missing you will have to check it out. if you hired someone to put the headliners in then go back and have them check it out. is the bulb still good or in the socket.

if you haven't figured it out yet ,you pull off the rear headliner center plastic piece,it just pulls down ,then remove the 2 puch pins on rear of headliner, then pull out light fixture and replace bulb

If your talking about a dome light bulb. You don't have to remove the headliner. Look at the lens where the bulb goes. You will see a small slot on one of the side of it. Insert a screw driver and pry down on it and it will pop off. Same with side lights in the headliner.

Start at the done light. Ya might have to remove the headliner. Good luck

odd,look for a fault in the ground side of that system,
if you check for voltage at say the dome light ground to battery
ground,there should be 0. even a test light from the battery ground to the dome light ground would work,if it even glows the ground is faulty. All I can think of ,,good luck.

remove all pillar trim pcs.(2front,2center and 2 rear-they are held in by clips so they just pull off-be careful not to brake them)remove front handles on headliner,remove sunvisors and visor holders remove clear cover from dome light ,remove dome light(2 screws)-you will see headliner plastic keepers pull off and headliner will come down ,fold down or remove front seats to pull out and install new headliner-reverse all the steps-keep all your mounting screws and clips with each part removed so you wont have trouble finding them-good luck

You will need to take the plastic cover off the dome light. You will find screws that will need to be removed. Once removed dome light should come down. Disconnect wires.

The problem was in the dome light itself. It is being replaced. The problem could have been caused by my son tucking and stapling a detached headliner around the dome light resulting in a ground problem that also shorted out other electrical systems. The exact cause is unknown.

I have a base model Nissan pickup of the same year, hopefully the headliner is basically the same. It's a molded board piece that forms the structure that the foam and fabric are adhered to. To remove it, take down the sun visors and the dome light. The plastic trim pieces on the windshield pillars also have to come down (I think, it's been 18 months since I replaced mine). Also a couple of plastic buttons over the rear window. Once those are off you should be able to remove the headliner and maneuver it out of the vehicle. Clean the old headliner off as thoroughly as you can. You should be able to do a web search for the method of replacing the headliner material, basically you use contact cement. I got my replacement headliner material at Jo-Ann Fabrics, it was pretty cheap. Good luck.
