My oil pressure indicator light flashes on when I have been going up a large long hill, but goes off when when I let of the gas for 2-3 secs and stays off when I reapply the gas and keep driving up the hill at a lower speed. Not sure what the problem is. I pulled over and checked the oil and it was normal.

Hi. there are many issues that can cause this type of situation. the oil pressure sending unit may be malfunctioning. there could be a faulty module or the wires and connectors could also be lose or faulty as well. you could also have a clogged oil filter but, that usually isn't the main issue here. the most common problem here would be a bad oil screen in the pan or a faulty oil pump. you will find the problem in these areas above.
Please rate and god bless:)

Replace oil pump and use the bigger filter that Vw tells you to. These 1.8's have some oiling problems due to the amount of oil they hold and they want you to use synthetic oil in them.

If your catalytic converter is "below efficiency" or otherwise clogged, you will lose power as you drive and the vehicle heats. The more you drive the vehicle, the worse the problem will become. The exhaust can't escape properly through the catalytic converter, therefore your engine won't run properly. Your issues are related, and if you replace your catalytic converter they should go away.
