in a manual transmission 5 speed there are 5 different ratios
in an automatic transmission 6 speed there are 6 different ratios
In a CV transmission the rations change according to the spacing of the pulleys
For differential ratos there are different ratios
for sedans
for station wagons
for utilities
for diesel engines
now reading that you will have to be very specific as to what gear ratio you want

There is no adjustment for the timing on a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2 liter . and the most likely cause on th eother problem is the abs speed sensor on the rear differential it is bolted to the top of the differential housing with a 10mm bolt remove it slowly in a twisting motion and put new differential grease on the o-ring slide it in and bolt it down and remeber to clear all codes or the sensor will run off of old paremeters

i dont believe the ratio is supplied by the vin but the ratio is written or stamped on the tag on the rear end, or front differential

Had this exact problem in my shop yesterday. Turned out the connector on the speed sensor on the rear differential was broken allowing it to pull out of the sensor. Cleaned out inside the connectors and tied them together with a pull tie. Problem solved.

Normally there is a tag on a bolt of the rear cover that tells you the ration of the differential. You can also use the Vin number to find it also unlss the differential has been changed. Other wise you will have to jack it up and turn both wheels exually t the same time and count the rotation of the deive shaft to come up with a close value for the gear ratio. Good Luck, RAC

drop in to your local dodge dealer..they can run serial number and tell you what gear ratio your differential is and towing capacity of your vehicle

you have to pull both axels out to remove the diff.

You need the main wiring of the car and fuses there broken wires or the connector which is causing this problem.........
