What holds the bottom of the headlamp assembly to the body on a G6?
I have removed two screws on top of unit along rad.support member. The unit is loose but won't release at the bottom. If it has those plastic "pop" retainers how do you grip it without breaking it? Just trying to replace the bulb.
Thanks for any help.
Well there isn't much on gripping the retainers, what they are, are plastic ball and socket clips. I would lay some tape down underneth the lamp onto the bumper to protect the bumper and then the hard part...while making sure the headlamp is above the bumper, pull with some force on the back half of the light to where it meets with the fender, after a little pulling it should (no promises) should come out, it will seem like it will break but it shouldn't. (I use to work at a body shop and did many of those headlights including my own '06 G6.) Hope that helps.
To change the bulbs you need to first
remove the 5 plastic pop screws on the front bumper. They're spread out at the
top of the bumper right under the hood. Once you get those out, you have to
remove the two hex bolts on each headlight. Then it gets tricky. You need to
pull the light towards the front of the car until it pops out of the
ball-bearing type mount on the fender. Once that pops out, you have to pull the
front bumper forward while maneuvering the headlight out towards the front.
As per the manual it says as
follows:---
Open the hood.
Hold the headlamp to prevent damage to
the headlamp or to the fascia. Remove the
bolts from the headlamp assembly. Remove the push-in-retainers across the front
fascia. Remove the headlamp assembly. Lift the headlamp upward to release the
locating tab from the front edge of the fender.
Disconnect the electrical connector
from the headlamp assembly.
Remove the headlamp bulb access cover
by rotating the headlamp bulb access cover counterclockwise, if necessary.
Remove the headlamp bulb from the housing
by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.
Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical
connector, if necessary.
Remove the park/turn bulb access cover
by rotating the cover counterclockwise, if necessary.
Remove the park/turn bulb from the housing
by rotating the socket counterclockwise, if necessary.
Gently pull the park/turn bulb from the
socket, if necessary. Install the park/turn bulb into the bulb socket.
Install the park/turn bulb socket into
the headlamp housing by rotating the socket clockwise.
Install the park/turn bulb access cover
by rotating the cover clockwise.
Connect the headlamp bulb to the
headlamp electrical connector.
Install the headlamp bulb into the
headlamp housing. Rotate the socket clockwise until locked.
Install the headlamp bulb access cover
by rotating the cover clockwise.
Position the headlamp assembly to the
vehicle. Lift the headlamp upward to release the locating tab to the front edge
of the fender.
Install the bolts to the headlamp
assembly. Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
Install the push-in-retainers across
the front fascia.
Close the hood.

trying to figure how to change bulb in headlight....
I am trying to remove the retractable cup holder unit from my 2003 volvo s80. I have been able to remove two screws and the assembly is now loose, but it still will not come out.
