As the temp rises so do the pressures high side and low side, at 100 degress outside low side pressure should in the area of 41 to 57 psi depending on hunidity.

SOURCE: I need to know how to jump the ac low pressure to get my ac compressor to come on.

If you look on the low pressure side of the AC system you will see a plug that is incorporated in to the line. It will have two wires leading to it. Remove the plastic clip that attaches the two wires to the sensor and use a short piece of wire to connect the two terminals in side the plug by putting the ends into the cap. This will bypass the low pressure sensor and allow the AC clutch to engage and begin to cycle again. Remember this low pressure switch is there for a reason. If you don't add more r-134 to the system and allow the AC compressor to cycle you will destroy the compressor. You need to charge the system when you bypass the low pressure switch and get the system up to full charge status and reconnect the switch.

SOURCE: AC Low Pressure location on 2004 Chevy Suburban

You find the AC low pressure at the top of the compressor, orientated toward you , facing the front of the vehicle. You can also follow the compressor line to reach the port.

The valve is covered a plastic cap covering it.
Near the compressor you find two ports, the high port and low port.

To find out which one is the low port, run the air conditioner for a couple of minutes withthe engine on.
Then turn off the care and touch the lines from compressor to the two ports covered with plastic caps. Only one of the pipes will be cold, the cold line will lead you to the low port.

Regards.

SOURCE: Where is the low pressure line AC for Express 1500

Look for the accumulator(silver can a/c lines go to) on the passenger side of engine area. The Low side charging port cap should be on the side of the accumulator.

SOURCE: Heater only works on passenger side.

there is a motor actuator that moves these doors for hot and cold, two separate ones for either side. the motor unit for drivers side is no good and needs new one. replace this and all will be good.

2006 silverado leaks water out of AC sometimes when it runs, also water vapor comes out the vents, this is when AC in on plus recirculate the air in cabin as well is on. doesn't due it all the time...

Your air conditioner condenses alot of moisture while it is cooling. This falls into the box that the blower fan is mounted inside of. There is a small drain hose that allows this moisture to drain outside the vehicle. Have this drain checked to insure that it is open. You can usually blow low pressure air into the hose to verify that it is clear.. Good Luck!

My ac works and blows well at times...at times the ac will just blow hot air. I will turn off and turn back on a day or so later and then the ac works fine. 1999 chevrolet silverado 1500. any help?

I had the same problem - charged the freon, no help. Finally an ole timer AC guy found the problem - the clutch gap needed to be adjusted. Don't know if he tightened or loosened, but find an AC guy and ask them about the clutch gap.

If you do not have enough refrigerant in the system. The low pressure switch will prevent the compressor from engaging to avoid damage.

Check your pressure.

I don't recommend this, but you may need to jump your low pressure switch to get the compressor going to add more refrigerant to the system. But if your low on charge, it may be "best to take it to a shop to have them fill the system".

2001 silverado ext cab wipers don,t work anymore.is there a fuse for motor or is it internal in motor?

Find where the motor is, turn it on and tap the body of the motor. These systems have a circuit board that will give you this kind of problem. I would also check the fuse, it is external, check under the dash board on the driver's side.Good luck

Air conditioner compressor runs - freon is up to proper level....not cooling??

BOTH High and low readings should be checked to have a better idea of what is going on with an AC system but based on the limited information… the compressor is not engaged or is not pumping. Below are some things I would check;

1. Check the high and low gauge readings with the AC on & set on MAX/Recirculate, middle vents with the engine at 2,000 RPM’s, blower speed on high.

2. Check the vent temperatures with a thermometer from the middle vents, far right & far left vents?

3. What is the outside temperature at the time the readings were taken?
4. Check to see if the condenser fan blowing strong?

5. Notice if compressor clutch is cylcling excessively.
Could be overcharged, not enough air going across condenser fins, compressor not pumping sufficiently… BOTH gauge readings are really needed to get a better idea.
Below are normal car AC pressure readings with 134A.

Normal readings on high and low side with AC OFF (static pressure) – Depends on outside temperature, but normally is between 80-105 PSI

Normal low side reading with AC on high speed and MAX & engine at 800-1000 RPM’s – Ranges from 25-35 PSI

Normal high side reading ranges from 200-350 PSI

Don’t assume that if adding little Freon is good that adding a lot is better! Overcharging just a little can decrease the performance of the system and possibly damage the compressor

Thank you for using fixya and good luck, keep me posted. Be glad to help you get your A/C running again soon.

I have a 1998 z-71, the low pessure valve stem on the ac is leaking, i have tried replacing the stem. Still leaking, also can the valve stem on the high pressure side be replaced?

Not without spending alot more money than you want, because you have to have a shop release the ac pressure if there is any, see if you can find the complete hose, then get it re charged, unless you are certified it cost quite a bit

The 2 low speeds are not working on my pickup i was told it could be a low voltage relay and needing to know where it is located at!! it goes on a 2003 silverado extended cab 1500 5.3litter 4x4

Are you talking about your Heater/AC fan??

If so there is a resistor pack under the dash on the passenger side (mounted to the heater housing). I would check it first.

My 2003 5.3l did the same thing; (not saying that it couldn't be something else). We froze that Summer because the AC only would blow on high.

My silverado had about 80,000 miles when I replaced it, now I have 96,000 and it still works fine.

There is an updated design available that should get your speeds back to normal, and last longer than the original part.

Good luck!

Good Luck!!
