Question about Jaguar XK8

1 Answer

The ABS+ETCS module on my 1997 XK8 went bad and I got a replacement from a Jag used parts supplier but the harness will not fit on the module. The part #, LJA2210BH, is correct but the pin config looks to not match the harness??? My harness from left to right has 6 pins top to bottom, four pins on the bottom, and seven pins top to bottom on the right. The ABS module they sent only has the seven pins on the right, but the middle pins and left pins are totally different. Is there a secret to getting the harness on or is this not a match?? Everything else, the hydraulic lines etc line up but the harness just won't go. I have the harness lock in the up position but when I try to push it dow to lock it won't go. My xk8's vin is SAJGX2743VC006977...this problem has me stumped. I sent my original module to be repaired but they could not repair so I don't have that as a reference now.

The electronic part of the unit ie. module is seperate from the pump unit and can be interchanged someone may have put a module from a different unit on to your pump motor unit ie, from a xkr which as a differant connector

SOURCE: Need source for new 1997 XK8 convertible front coil springs

Hi

Yes front coil springs are what you need !

I think the spares situation for Jaguars, is disgusting with the main dealers.

I have been trying to source them myself, for about 2 weeks, and only found ****, painted up second hand ones.
I will keep trying, and let you know if I am lucky and find a source for genuine new springs.

Best Wishes

John

SOURCE: 1997 XK8 Transmission Failure. Will 2001 XK8 transmission work

I had a similar problem with my 1997 XK8. Apparently the transmission will not last much more than 100,000 miles. You need to replace the clutch in the transmission - cost between $2,500 and $4,000.

SOURCE: Jaguar XK8 Remote Locking problem

check your lock relays located in the interior fuse panel. Sometimes the actual connections to the fuse block can come lose and the relays wont work properly. My 2000 silverado did the same thing till i bent the pins on the relay for a tighter fit.
hope this helps

SOURCE: 1997 jag xk8 overheated, replaced thermastat and

Last year my car suddenly overheated while idling to the point the coolant tank exploded. I took it to a foreign car repair shop where they replaced the coolant tank and put in another thermostat. It didn't make it home before it overheated again. I took it to the Jag dealership where they felt that my hoses had expanded to much during the overheat so they replaced all of my hoses to a tune of $1000. Three months later it overheated again. I took it to another foreign car repair shop where they discovered the real culprit. An impeller had broken off of my waterpump, I had a blockage in my radiator, and I had a short in one of the coolant fans that made it only work part of the time. So about $2400 later my car has been coolant issue free for about 2 years now. Good luck and I hope this helps.

either your "double-crossover flow" radiator is plugged or if you have excessive pressure when you remove radiator cap its got a bad head gasket, then start checking your oil for signs of milky looking oil and foaminess then you got BIG troubles ahead

ASC is short for "automatic stability control" u will need to have the ABS/Traction control system tested by the dealer for a possiable fault code.

I have the same problem on my 1998 XK8

Seek the Jag-Lovers.com website for Dan Jensen's article on repairing the ABS Electronic control board (seems a solder joint becomes intermittent). This is a common trouble in XK8s... mine needed to be replaced recently too....

ABS Light And Stability controll light

The most likely root cause of the problem has been determined, and its step by step fix is also detailed if you have the skills to do that yourself. See the excellent detailed website posting by Dan Jensen on the Jag-lovers.org site forums.jag-lovers.org under avsn.php?1169101j41 . He describes what goes wrong in the $2800 ABS control electronic board, and that simply re-soldering a few heavy wires to the board will fix the trouble. But it requires some mechanical work to get that module out, and then some more work to saw the plastic case apart to get to that circuit board. - Best regards - MHH

XK8 abs module

We have the same problem with our BMW. Dealer quoted close to $1500, with a one year parts warranty. Go to Module Masters at www.modulemasters.com.

They show detailed info on how to remove your unit, and will rebuild one for a 2001 XK8 for $150. The unit for our BMW is $300.

I have heard great comments about Module Masters. Well worth a shot!
