Replacing O2 sensor on 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4x4

I've got a 2002 Toyota Tacoma that has a p1135 error code. It needs a new O2 sensor (upstream between the manifold and engine). I'm having trouble removing it and could use some help. It has two screws that need to be removed by the exhaust pipe. The other end of the wire where it should be unplugged is tucked way up above the transmission. I've just barely been able to snake my arm in there but can't figure out how to detach it. Can anyone help?

SOURCE: o2 sensor location 1997 pontiac grand am 2.4 4 cyl auto trans

BANK 1 SENSOR 1 IS THE ONE IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. BANK 2 SENSOR 2 IS BELOW THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

P0171 SHOULD GO AWAY WITH A GOOD O2 SENSOR BUT DO CHECK FOR VACUUM LEAKS TO BE SURE. 3.1/3.4L ENGINES HAVE A BAD DESIGN INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET, THE LEAK OIL, COOLANT, AND AIR.

the best way i know is to heat the bolts using asceteline and oxygen and then use an impact to break them loose.

SOURCE: S70 GLT head replacement

the easiest way to remove the head is to completely remove the exhaust manifold from the engine and turbo assy. you CAN just unbolt it from the engine , but it takes a good bit of wiggling to get it off if you are leaving thre manifold in the car

No remove the axle on the side it is on and it can be pulled out but you need to go to www.alldatadiy.com and purchanse aa subscription to get the exact things to do, the answer would take a half day for me to type out, fact I could get it out before I could type it out.

AutoZone will lend you the tools you need to change the O2 sensor . You "Buy" the tool ( about $25)and get a full refund when you return it.

Long skinny arms DO come in handy but you may be able to get to it from under the car also

2002 Toyota Highlander P1135 A/F Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1

The air-fuel ratio sensor is located in either the exhaust manifold or the front exhaust pipe. It measures the amount of air in your exhaust and uses that information to determine your current air-fuel ratio.

Best to you

2000 Toyota tacoma with code P0171.

You don't say if it is a 4 cyl or 6 cyl engine.
The code means the O2 sensor is telling the computer the engine fuel mixture is too lean and the computer can not make the injectors provide enough extra fuel to make the sensor go rich.
Reasons can be a faulty cooling thermostat, low fuel pressure, vac leaks, exhaust leaks, and other engine problems.

2002 toyota tacoma with a p1135 code and a # 4 cylinder misfire

I have had a problem like that on my Isuzu Rodeo Turns out the o2 sensor was bad. The computer reads it as not enough fuel. The mass airflow sensor will dump more fuel causing the engine miss fire.
You might check the codes again and see if you get the code for the 02 sensor. If so you can try to unplug the 02 sensor, the ck engine light will remain on, however the car should run without any issues.
Good Luck!!

Check engine light on reads p1135

On Toyota models the error code meansthe problem is as described below

P1135 Air/Fuel sensor heater circuit response (bank 1 sensor1).

It indicates the most common problem with your O2 sensor . Bank ! sensor indicates the upstream O2 sensor. It might be faulty and needs to be replaced.
