check if your thermostate is working... is it having troubles getting to operating tempurature?
check your heater lines that run to the heater core and see if there is heat getting to and from the heater core if the thermostat is running properly...
if you have heat running to and from the heater core then check and make sure your heater controls in the van are switching between defrost and heat and floor properly
could be a heater box problem ....
when i had the same problem with my venture it turned out to be a plugged heater core and i replaced it

If heat gauge reads normal, stays in the middle, then you do not need to mes up with the thermostat. I own a 2000 Chevy Venture and changing the thermostat was not fan.
It may be the Temperature Control Module, which you can buy for $45 and replace without problem, or may be an partially obstructed heating core. The GM Dex-Cool antifreeze, the read one, has additives, but if you do not flush the radiator every 2 or 3 years, can result in partially clogged heater core. I have done on my car twice till now, and replaced with green Prestone, on my own risk. Hope this will help. If need more information let me know. Hi,I just replaced mine.It is not that hard.just buy a manual on it at autozone,and it gives the specifications and step by step directions to dissassemble,and reassemble.I put in new plugs,thermostat,and flushed the motor for around $200.00.runs great!

There is a heat sensor located near the thermostat that goes directly into the block. Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual.

The thermostat is probably bad and causing your overheating. If that is not hte problem, then it would probably be your water pump.

2000 chevy venture run good but my lights flickers and have to jump. After I jump the van and put my meeter on the battery its reading 14.volts at idle. I can drive around to store cut the van off come out it starts fine leave it overnite and it don't started.
