Could be a problem with the water pump, blockage in the cooling system, even a restriction in the exhaust.
Do you know if the radiator fan comes on before it reaches 230 degrees ??

Whatever else you do, DO NOT let the engine overheat for any lengthy period - like more than a few minutes. If the damage is not already done, overheating frequently causes the cylinder liners on these 4.6 engines to slip out of position and once that happens, you are up for serious money to fix it - like thousands.

Get the vehicle to a professional shop (not a dealer) for immediate diagnosis - also see the article on slipped liners on the website www.graemecooper.com.au

SOURCE: I need the radio code for a 1999 range rover 4.6

Just a suggestion; try the service # in the owners manual, or call local dealer and go from there, it sometimes takes serveral phone-calls to finally get where you need to be, but most 3s are toll-free.

SOURCE: Range Rover 4.6 HSE. 97' 1. What does HSE

The HSE designation refers to a Sport Edition 'Rover, not a higher-priced premium edition.
Changing fuel grades can harm an engine that doesn't have computer controlled valve timing.
Symptoms include a pronounced, fast "knock" (usually when you go from 93 to 87 octane) and using a fuel with a higher octane rating than the vehicle requires (example: 93 versus 87) sends unburned fuel into the emissions system and catalytic converter. This puts stress on the emissions system. For some vehicles, a rotten egg smell or a pop when the fuel burns off in the catalytic converter coming from the tailpipe signals use of higher than needed octane gas.

Why is my 2008 Range Rover overheating still

Usually people check everything, change the thermostat and forget to check if the cooling fans work? The other possibility is that the water pump is failing.

The simplest thing would be if there is a big air lock in the system and the water isn't circulating properly. No heat coming out of vents is a symptom of that because the heater core is high up in the system behind the dash. Read this Tip I wrote. Raising the front of the vehicle is important to fill the heater core as well as putting heating on MAX.

My 2004 hse take water too much

The coolant can only go in one of two places - either onto the road or into the cabin via a leak, or through the engine. Look all round the back and under the motor to see if coolant is leaking anywhere - especially from the valley gasket, radiator hoses, heater hoses, heater core etc.
If no leak is evident, it has to be a head gasket or worse. Make sure the engine does not overheat or a slipped liner may result - thousands of dollars.to fix

Reset service engine soon light 1999 range rover HSE 4.6

I have a 1999 Rover with the 4.6. I bought a code reader for $150 and erased the code. Its paid for itself a hundred times. Did you fix the reason the service engine light problem first? Some auto part stores will read for you. I don't know if they will reset it for you at the same time. If problems not fixed the light will reappear in a very short period of time. Let me know if I can answer anything else. Good luck

Range Rover Sport Pinion and introduction

This new five-passenger premium sport-utility vehicle filled a price gap between Land Rover's LR3 and its ultraluxury Range Rover models. In fact, the all-wheel-drive Range Rover Sport was smaller than either, designed to compete with "high-performance" SUVs such as V8 versions of the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne, as well as Cadillac's SRX. Based on the seven-passenger LR3's body-on-frame structure, the Range Rover Sport came as the HSE model with a 300-horsepower, 4.4-liter V8, and in Supercharged trim with a 390-horsepower, 4.2-liter V8. Both engines were sourced from Jaguar, which was owned by Land Rover's parent company, Ford. A six-speed automatic with manual shift gate was the sole transmission. All-wheel drive with low-range gearing was standard, and included Land Rover's Terrain Response system, designed to automatically tailor AWD performance to specific off-road conditions. Also included were a height-adjustable air suspension, antiskid/traction control, and antilock four-wheel disc brakes. The Supercharged model came with 20-inch wheels and Brembo-brand front brakes. On the HSE, 19-inch tires were standard and 20-inch optional. Both models contained front side airbags, head-protecting curtain side airbags, and a navigation system. Standard on the Supercharged model and available for the HSE were wood interior trim, heated seats, and Land Rover's Dynamic Response suspension system, designed to counteract body lean in turns. Satellite radio, wireless cell phone link capability, and rear DVD entertainment were options. Adaptive cruise control was available for the Supercharged edition.
