THERE IS A BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH MOUNTED ON THE MASTER CYLINDER. IF THE ABS LIGHT IS ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL IS INOP. THE SWITCH OR WIRING TO THE SWITCH IS BAD. THERE SHOULD BE VOLTAGE IN AND OUT OF THE SWITCH IF ONLY POWER IN AND NO POWER OUT THE SWITCH IS BAD. ALSO CHECK FUSE #45 IN THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX TO SEE IF ITS GOOD. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Hey Brian, we exactly the same problem with our 2003 explorer. Where did you order the switch? Or even better, do you have a partnumber? Thanks so much. Ronnie

Crusie control does not work on 2011 gmc sierra 1500 and I've already replaced the switch?

If the switch is replaced, then it can be wiring issue or faulty cruise control board. But as the switch is replaced, get the voltage at the switch tested to confirm the switch is actually receiving voltage. If no voltage received at switch power supply wire then ,apply external 12 volt power to the cruise control switch wire and then see if cruise control comes ON.If yes, then you know wiring is issue.

Where is the ABS sensor located on my 2004 Ford Explorer XLT? My ABS light will periodically come on then goes off when you shut off the engine. I also have lost my cruise control function.

There should be at least 5 abs sensors:
One for low brake fluid------- check master cylinder for low fluid, if it is low( use dot 3 brake fluid ) to fill it.
The other 4 on the back side of each wheel called wheel speed sensors ( which are tied in with abs system).
To really pinpoint the problem, an abs code scanner should be hooked up to it, that would tell what is causing the light to come on.
I think advanced auto parts store or auto zone check it for free (if there is one near you) otherwise some places charge $80.00 to $100.00 for 30 seconds just to retrieve the code.
As far as the cruise control, it could be a vacuum problem or accuator problem, etc. Without testing it's hard to say.

My abs lite is on in my 2002 Ford Explore

is your cruise control working? If it is not it could be your speed control sensor. Usually when this fails it sets off your ABS sensor. It could be other things but it's something to cross off

While driving home from work my ABS light illumintaed then my 4X4 high light began flashing. What do you think the problem might be?

For some year models of Explorers involved in the Cruise Control recall, there were additional wiring problems caused by the modification of the Cruise Control. These problems included yours and Brake lights working independent of the brakes. Contact a dealer about this SECOND service bulletin.

The above problems are more likely if the 4x4 is showing a light and the vehicle is in 2 wheel drive. The ABS indicator light is usually to be trusted without the Cruise problem. It would not hurt to check the brake pad linings, sometimes the lining shifts and drops down off the metal of the pads. Finally if the ABS light is still showing a problem that you can not find, check the Emergency brake pads inside the rear rotors.

I have a 2003 ford explorer. I accidently backed

on top of your brake master cylender under the hood (where you put in brake fluid) there is a sensor in the end of it which is for your cruise control. Un-plug the electrical connector and see if you see brake fluid in that sensor -take it to the dealer. This faulty cruise control switch has been the cause of many Fords catching fire. They will fix it for free-it is now a recall. This problem will allow the cruise not to work and an a.b.s. light also. Hope this helps!

99 Ford Explorer V8 5.0 AWD - My speedometer works intermittently. I have replaced both front ABS wheel speed sensors and the one located on the rear differential. Occasionally it will start bouncing then...

Could be a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Located on the transmission. Not an expensive fix at all. Have a diagnostic check run on it from any auto parts store if you have a check engine light on.

Abs light is on and cruise control does not engage

it sounds like the speed sensor in the rear differential is faulty
