2006 dodge stratus won't crank and cruise control won't light

Can hear engine turn over but won't crank. Wait a couple of minutes and it will crank, but cruise light won't be lit. Engine cranks fine when cruise light lit. No cruise light engine sputters at 2100 rpm. Check engine light is lit was told by mechanic to replace whole engine.

Must not have been much of a mechanic. If the engine runs and sounds fine sometimes and other times it doesn't then it does not sound like a mechanical problem with the engine. Sounds more like a issue with either the ignition system or fuel system.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light Stays On

well over 150 different faults turn the MIL (Malfunction indicator lamp) light on, suggest to find out the fault code in the computer for the light, you can go to any kragen or autozone parts store and they will run a test on the system for free, post the code back here..

SOURCE: 2000 dodge intrepid 2.7 sputtering, revs up

you need to ck some basics you could have a vacuum leak which would hide during warm up but cause havoc when hot,the leak would cause high idle then your pcm would try to lower idle to spec thru use of idle control motor causing surging idle ,also fuel pressure needs to be checked while acting up,may be more cost effective to pay for an hour of diagnostic.

SOURCE: CAM SENSOR ENGINE LIGHT. MAX RPM 2000 SOMTIMES

I seen this before first of all don't let the car dealer to BS the way to your money, most of the time is noting wrong whit the sensor it self but is the plug than goes in to the sensor this what i recommend is to buy another sensor from your local auto part store or salvage yard (cheaper) get three pieces of cable and solder directly in to the sensor brake the plastic around the sensor plug if necessary and secure the three cables to it put some silicon in between the solder and the place the new sensor on top of the old one so you now wish wire goes to which and cut and attach one by one. I now this works 100% i have done it my self many times if you need diagrams or sensor locations you can find that at www.alldatadiy.com now if you still have problems unplug all harness especially all the ones than comes from the back of the engine because that engine tends to leak oil on top of the harness if you have wires doing shortcut replace that section you can solder use heat string tube and change the insulation hose they sale those on part stores to put some zip tides on the ends and you will have your car back and will last Note don't let it get to close to the exhaust use zip tides to keep from touching hot areas.

SOURCE: 2006 Dodge Stratus Check engine light

Small vacuum leak to start in evap system, which can quite often be traced back to gas cap. I'd clean gas cap seal good & add a little Vaseline, to the rubber "O" ring on cap, and wipe surface where cap screws in real good & clean, then have codes erased, or disconnect battery for a few seconds, and then see if it comes back. Make sure you put cap on tight after adding fuel.

I have a dodge stratus and the engine light is on and it drives and its as though someone stopped it with a grabbing sensation but its not the brakes they are not involved. i thought the pause and cut off was caused by the transmission but it not that either

Engine shut off while towing up a hill.

You'll need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes then go from there. If the check engine light was on for more than a minute there should be trouble codes stored.
The EVAP leak would not cause the engine to stall.

Hello everyone I have a 2001 dodge stratus coupe 3.0l thats im have problems with it. Is crank works and then stop the car it wont work wait ten minutes then it works any idea what it could be ????

Difficult to follow your english, but I think you are saying the engine dies and you have to wait 10 minutes to restart it.
Someone would need to check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure at the injectors when it won't start to proceed.

Engine cut out while driving, won't start.

Lets start at the beginning.
If you have a V6 engine you have two cam sensors. And the problem could be the cam sensor(s) is not in sync with the crank sensor due to a problem with the sensor or the timing belt.
Code 340 is for bank one sensor one. You could have as many as 4 sensors depending on which engine you have.
The mass airflow meter code could keep the engine from starting.
The cruise control problem could be related to the cam-crank sensor issue or something else.
You should only have one crank sensor and it is usually near the crank pulley in the front of the engine.

Where is the Cruise control connector on a 2004 stratus, I need to disconnect it. The engines revs up by itself and I think it comes from a cruise control issue

Hi , Cruise control is a nice thing to have but only if it works properly. Turn it OFF when you don't need it. If it still gives you trouble have it looked at by a mechanic. Good luck

How do i jump my 1997 dodge stratus

  • Ensure your Stratus's ignition is in the "Off" position, and turn off anything that uses battery power, such as lights, radio and heater blower. Park the booster car close enough to the dead car that you can connect the jumper cables to both batteries, but make sure the two vehicles aren't touching. Connect one red (+) clamp of the cables to the booster battery's positive terminal. Connect the other red clamp to the Stratus' "Remote Terminal." The terminal is located next to the air filter assembly, and is marked with a "+" and the word "Positive." Dodge uses these remote terminals to reduce the risk of explosion caused by sparks near the battery. Connect one of the black (-) cable clamps to the negative terminal on the booster battery. Connect the other black clamp to the negative "Remote Terminal" on the Stratus, located on the opposite side of the air filter assembly from the positive terminal. It is a marked with a "-" and the word "Negative."Start the booster car, if not already running, and apply slight pressure to the gas pedal to make it idle faster. Wait a few minutes and attempt to start the Stratus. If it cranks a little, but still won't start, continue charging the battery. Once the Stratus starts, leave it running and disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order of the way you attached them.
