I have a 2000 honda accord ex v6 automatic. My cruise control stopped working and i am trying to fix it. No lights come on in the switch or on the dash. My brake lights do not stay on all the time. I changed the bulbs in the switch today with no luck. I have already checked the continuity of the post in the switch. From the schematic that i saw for the switch. When the switch is in the off position there should be continuity between the 1 and 2 post and the 4 and 5 post. and when it is on the third post is added. i am getting continuity between the 1, 2, and 3 but nothing in the 4 and 5. Like i said no lights come on at any time.

Sounds like a fuse. Can't tell you which one, but check all of the under dash fuses and the two fuse boxes under the hood, too. Here are the two under hood fuse boxes. https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/2000-honda-accord-4dr_exv6-ka-4at/control-unit-engine-room.html?PNC=7 (part 10) https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/2000-honda-accord-4dr_exv6-ka-4at/control-unit-cabin.html?PNC=6 (part 5)

If you live near an AutoZone they used to offer free check engine light diagnostics.
See what code they can retreive from the computer with their device and check it against the list of codes. It may not just be a missing Gas cap code. There are hundreds of codes computers can return.

Best Wishes.

So after you push the button and then press the set button in the steering wheel it does not get into cruise control ? It sounds like a minor electrical problem. If you have warranty still I think the dealership should fix it for free.

Sorry i have not been able to help you.

Check the speed control deactivation switch on the master cylinder. disconnect and use a jumper wire to connect the wires together. If the cruise works it's the switch.

check all your fuses first then take a look at the brake switch and there is a criuse cancel switch also, i think there may be a problem with the switch, even if the cancel switch was bad i think the power would still stay on but cruise would just stop and power would stay on. check fuses and switches anyway to be sure then take a look at the power switch.

MY 1989 Honda Accord had cruise control until it stopped working. I checked the Fuse. Its good, I replaced the control switch on the steering wheel. Didn't fix the problem. Then replaced the power button...

Look for the obvious. Check for the cable that goes to the throttle to see if it came off or broke. Also look for any leaks in the vacuum system. A small leak will cause it not to work. The unit may be engaging but with one of these problems, it just won't work.

Good Luck

Cruse controll

Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.

97 honda accord v6 luxury cruise control not working

Yes, it probably is the brake switch. It must be working properly for the cruise control to work. If the part you got did not come from a car with cruise control, it will only have two electrical posts and not the four that you need.
If it is the right part, it must be turned in until the button is pushed completely, but not so far that it begins to actuate the master cylinder. Please report your results.
