SOURCE: the glows are not working

WITHOUT ANY OTHER INFORMATION, I WOULD CHECK THE GLOW PLUGS RESISTANCE, THEY SHOULD ALL BE LOW, APPROX 2-3 OHMS. IF THEY ARE GOOD, THE GLOW PLUG RELAY WOULD BE MY NEXT GUESS. I HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL OF THOSE.

SOURCE: how to oil change 2005 Mercedes Benz E320 Cdi

Mercedes makes it easy! Get a 10 quart oil pump and draw the oil out of the dipstick tube. The oil filter is on top so can be removed with a filter wrench and easily replaced. No need to jack the car up or crawel under. No fuss no mess and a 10 minute oil change!!!

Where is the oil filter for 1998 e320 Mercedes Benz

This car does not use the common "spin on" style oil filter. It uses a cartridge style (common back in the 1950s and 60s) style oil filter. The filter housing is located on the top front of the engine on the driver's side. The filter element is accessed by removing the black plastic top of the filter housing. Wrap a rag around the plastic top and very carefully use a pair of slip joint ( aka Channelloc) pliers to remove the top of the housing. It is a normal right hand thread and screws off. The filter element is found inside.

Check oil

computerized oil indicator is only way if no dipstick. turn key halfway on... toggle through steering wheel buttons until check oil function. computer only checks if engine is off for a few minutes. this is for a 2005 cdi e320, might work for you.
