2000 Mitsubishi Galant, EA3A 2.4l motor. Oil leal

I have an oil leak from the RH side of the engine. I have changed all the Cam shaft seals, balance shaft seal and the crank shaft pulley seal.
I still have the same leak!
Any ideas?

Have you had he engine steam cleaned to help to isolate the leak location? when oil leaks it goes everywhere, so as an example the leak may be at the valve cover but it looks like a rear main seal leak, also they make dye that shows up under a black lite, change the oil and add the dye, you can buy black light test lamps on line

It could also be the oil pan gasket, or the manifold gasket. if it's the manifold gasket, when you remove the manifold to replace it, take the time to clean out the mixing chamber. it'll be filled with gunk and cleaning will improve gas mileage.

don't use 20w50 that is too heavy an oil for that motor. the most i would use is like a 10w40 and that is a last resort. your valves need adjusting or the hydraulic lash adjusters may be gunked up. there is a chemical called auto-rx (search web) that could help you out. just follow the directions for it. the only other oil seals i can think of are oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket, rear main seal, valve cover gasket.

What mark on the cam shaft/oil pump should be used to reset timing

If you can't find any information you may have to do it from scratch. Find tdc on crankshaft, find point where opposite cylinder to number 1 (cylinder 4 on inline 4 engine) is 'rocking' ( exhaust closing, inlet opening) at this point you are close, and should be able to find the correct mark. (probably need valve cover off to see cam and valves moving as you carefully turn camshaft) some engines have a balance shaft driven behind the oil pump. If so there will be marks to line up there too. Can be tricky, eg mitsubishi motor, just lining up oil pump mark may not be right, it's not a direct drive to balance shaft. A pin has to be able to insert into a bolt hole on the side of the block, so maybe have to turn oil pump gear up to 3 times to get right position. Sorry not familiar with your motor.

Engine oil is dripping from the timing belt side of my 2000 accord after idling for about 5 minutes. Happened after cleaning the throttle body. Any help, ty

Cleaning your throttle body is irrelevent to the oil leak behind the timing cover. There are 5 seals that can leak behind the 2000 accord timing cover, the oil pump, crank seal, cam seal, and the 2 balancer seals. Most of the time its the front balancer seal that has popped out and will need to be replace and have and retaining kit install. Its actually very common on that engine. I highly recommend taking it to a professional to get repaired because timing the 2 balancer gears with the cam and crank is very tricky even for the mechanically inclined. Since the timing belt and the balancer belt has to come off and is probably soaked in oil, I recommend replacing those as well.

2000 go tracker bad oil leal back of motor have changed rear main oil seal front trans seal oil pan gasket still leaking even changed crank sensor oil ring &sensor .

It has to be an oil pressure sending unit. There are two of them on that SUV but they are in different places depending on your engine cord. If you go to Advance Auto parts or O'Riley, they will tell you exactly where to look.

Hi, I have a 2000 saturn LS2 3.0 v6, I got an oil change about 3 weeks ago, and my car started smoking today, I found out that half of the oil has leaked out of my car, I know that the leak is coming from...

That area is where the oil filter is and the oil pressure sending unit. Inspect the Oil filter to make sure that it's not leaking through a bad oil O ring seal, it's common for oil to leak from there is the filter has been put on to tight or to loose. If your oil pressure sending unit also have gone bad , it will leak from there. Also most important is to check your oil level, low on oil will cost you a new engine, note also to make sure that oil is not leaking from your oil drain plug at the bottom of your oil pan.

Best thing to do id to check your oil level and addif it's low and bring it back to the place your had your oil changed and let them know that your losing oil from the bottom of your engine. "oil filter area"

They will most of the time repalce the filter free of charger or just charge you for a new filter, but most likely that if it's a faulty filter. They will not charge you for a new filter.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.

I have a 2004 mitsubishi galant....i have the 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty but i cant find the phone number for this warranty...is there any way you could get it for me? i was also wondering if this...

please note that no warranty covers expendables that being filters, belts, brakes , fluids etc when you do timing belt you need to do front engine seals cam and crankshaft seals balancer shaft and oil pump seals. sometimes the tensioners timing belt and balancer shaft tensioners are requested however in most dealerships unless your have been extended bumper to bumper warranty it only covers: power train (major engine parts) not including clutch cover , electricals, suspension and battery so if you do have bumper then they should cover it. but thats in the Caribbean market

1996 Mitsubishi Galant Timing Belt and Oil Pump Timing

THe timing of the oil pump is irrelevent as no matter where it is timed as long as it is pumping oil. you must have a leak from a cam or crank seal or maybe the oil pressure sender. hope this helps. regards Ben.
