Re: have a problem with my air bag light staying on while...
The airbag system has a fault and is shut off by the control module. You must get it tested with a scan tool to find out what the code is for the problem it has developed that turned on the light.

Disconnect the battery before attempting any airbag repairs.
Remove the steering wheel connectors and check they are all clean and reconnect them. Reassemble the steering wheel and horn press assembly then take it to a Toyota service centre or a garage with a Toyota scanner and get the system reset.
SRS means secondary restraint system - air bags. If the light remains on, it means the the air bag module has detected a problem with your air bag system. Have codes read (you'll need a reader that can read codes from the air bag module) to see what the problem is, and have it repaired. Best left to a dealer or shop that has experience with air bag systems.
The light is on to tell the driver there is a problem with the SRS system and the system is disabled. So if there is a crash the airbags will not deploy. There is also a slight chance the bags can deploy at random times.
A mechanic would check the body computer for trouble codes then troubleshoot the system and repair.
The air bag light on then off for a while, while driving it comes on and stay on for a while this means the system has detected a problem in the airbag system and it is warning you that if you get in a accident the air bag may not deploy. My hope is that youll never need it and youll never be a vehicle when it goes off.
The air bag light will remain illuminated if a fault has been detected in the air bag system.
The onboard computer will need to be interfaced with diagnostic equipment to read the fault.
This is also the only way to reset the light.
Good luck, I hope this helped.
Sounds to me like one of the air bag sensors may have tripped, causing the airbag computer to think the vehicle has been wrecked. Take the vehicle to a dealership and have them reset the air bag sensors to get rid of the light.
Sometimes the wiring under the passenger seat can become compromised from objects in floor becoming wedged under the seat.May need to be reconnected if possible..Usually if the air bag light remains on , it means the air bag will not engage if needed. Should have the dealer service department check for you.
Under the front seats you have wires going to your seat belt anchors. These wires are atached to a sensor witch activate the air bags if the anchors have force pull on them. The wires have plugs under the seat.Disconnect the plugs and spray with electical cleaner and replace.Make sure the ignition is switched off befor you attemt doing.90%of the time this will work.good luck.
