I have a '98 Grand Am and when i put my brights on my headligts go out
I will first replace the headlight bulbs first before i do any thing else it could jst be a butmed out bulbs
In ANY AND EVERY electrical problem, there is one universal rule, ALWAYS VERIFY THE FUSES FIRST.
I have the same car and have changed the headlight swithc three (3) times. To verify disconnect the headlights electrical connectors use a 12V test light or volt meter turn on the headlights on low beam and make sure you have voltage on one terminal in both of the light connectors then switch to high beams and test again you should have voltage on a different terminal this verifies power to the lights if you only have power on one and none when you go to high beam you need a new headlight switch

Replace your headlights. Your brights are no longer working. There are 2 sets of lights in each headlight. One set for your dims and one set for your brights. It is time to replace the lights.
