SOURCE: engine stalls after cold start-up & release from high speed idle

I had a similar problem.  I found the filter cartridge below the pcv valve had carboned up, and after the crank case pressurized, oil was forced out the pcv supply line to the throttle body.  The idle air control valve solenoid got oil in it and caused my problem, but only when it was cold.  The pcv cartridge is accessed by removing the pcv valve and the rubber fitting that the pcv valve mounts in.  It can then be fished out with a pick set, and it is a pain because you can't see it, but you can get you hand back there.  I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: 99 Sable - hesitation or flutter at 35-42mph - service light on

I had the same EXACT problem on my 2002 Sable. Freaked out thinking I needed a transmission.
All I needed was a tune-up. When not firing properly, sensors "take over" to compensate.

Check plugs/'ll be surprised...I sure was!!

Dash lights won't work

You may have a fuse or a circuit breaker failed.
Check fuses and circuit breakers both under the dashboard and also under the hood of the car to see if you can find a defective one.
If you have no luck, you may need to see and electrical expert mechanic.
God bless your efforts.

2001 sable airbag, abs, brake panel lights come on wont go off causes problems

Craig, I am sorry that you are having this issue, you are having an electrical issue that is probably a Hot Wire that is giving Feedback to the other systems...

Your Best Effort is going to find a good Automotive Electrician...

This is not going to be an easy fix but for a professional, he will be able to do it and do it quickly

Can you tell me what number fuse is the power window relay on a 2002 Mercury Sable. My windows will not work and the driver side is down.

We get so many of these window problems, I would
like to suggest a couple of things

First purchase an owners manual
You absolutely have to have one to look
up lamps or bulb numbers

The fuse thing is almost a never issue
If you replace a fuse once ever 8 years it is
a lot

Now on to the window and ALL Electrical Issues

My opinion only
You need a wiring diagram specific to your vehicle,
BEFORE you have ANY Problems

There is no way we can teach basic electricity and walk
someone thru diagnosing switches,window motors,door
computer modules an more

You need the ability to follow a guide (wiring schematic)
or you will be there forever and only waste your time.

Where would I find the PnP electrical module on a V6 97 Sable apparently these go after replacing a starter

never heard of it and I work for Ford. There is a GEM module in the engine comaprtment (Generic Electronci Module). It is very expensive, but I doubt it's your issue.
Nothing should go after replacing a starter.

There are 3 PNP & 3 NPN diodes in the alternattr. Not serviceable though.

The headlights do not activate automatically, in the auto mode, at night or with minimal daylight. However the running lights will activate in the auto mode. A new dash light switch was installed without...

The light sensor to control the automatic headlamps is located on the dashboard. This sensor is suppose to activate running and headlamps. I would suspect the problem is a relay to operate the headlamps if the car uses a seperate relay in the automatic mode. I'm assuming the headlamps work in manual on/off. FYI... The auto mode does not control the fog lamps.

Power door locks and windows stopped working. also, wipers and automatic lights do not work. airbag light is also flashing. all the fuses are good. Help!

take the drivers front wheel off and take the splash shield down. towards the upper rear of the wheel well there is a bunch of wires running through a plastic run that double back at the end of it. wires tend to rub through at that switch back and cause a lot of the key-on accessories to stop working. this problem is common on 97 to 02 Taurus/Sable vehicles.
