1999 Ford Taurus mechanical problem

It runs fine while engine is cold but once the engine is warm and you go to slow down or go to take off the car starts running rough and acts like the engine is going to die. But once you get the speed up it seems to run ok.

Hello,
your problem appears to be the idle control motor located on the air intake manifold it is a small motor that goes bad quite often. Other items that can cause this is a bad /clogged air filter or a tune up (spark plugs and wires), or clogged fuel injectors. to clean the injectors you can buy a container of fuel system cleaner and pour it into the gas tank and as you drive it cleans the system.

Once the fuel system is cleaned via a tankful of cleaner & gas then the idle controller motor would be next on the list to be replaced.

Good Luck !

1999 taurus hard starting, once it starts runs fine. it has original coil pack and crank sensor

Does this engine have a cold start mechanism? I would check that out since it appears to be the source of the problem.

sounds like your thermostat is stuck open, if its takes a very long time for the engine to warm up and you get nothing but cold air from your heat then thats the first place i would start.

I have a high idle problem only when the engien is cold. I replace the IAC which i thought it was going to solve my problem but no luck, it didnt change a thing.

It is normal for engines to idle faster, when they are cold. Once it warms up, it should slow down to somewhere in the 650 - 750 range.

1995 ford taurus will not start

a faulty coolant temperature sensor could be at fault. if its telling the computer the engine is hot when its actually cold, it can cause performance problems. when the sensor tells the computer its cold, it richens the fuel mixture. once the car warms up, it leans the mixture out. if the mixture is too lean at startup, it will run poorly

1988 Ford Taurus hard start problem

Change the coolant sensor located close to the thermostat housing. This is easy but do not over tighten it. You will have the same problem if you do. Tighten till it does not leak only.Good luck!
