How about when the radio is on & the key is off or in your hand,if you open either front door does the radio go off & do you lose the delayed window feature assuming you have that If so you problem is a delayed accy relay Next would be the front door switches I will give you credit for what you tried but fail to see why you would switch motor from door to door, they work powered directly or they don't I would think your battery would have gone dead by now if the relay failed to time out or go to sleep
Most likely you have to replace the switch assembly on the driver side it probably got wet over the years from rain and snow and cause it to short out. Do not get a used part from a scrap yard because your end up with the same problems.
It sounds like it could be the window solenoid, or the window motor. It's unlikely the switches on both doors are bad. Check the solenoids and motors...
If the motor runs as you push the switch and keeps running till you stop the drive in the motor or the regulater has broken. You can try to manully close the window and then push the switch to see if it'll ingage. Opening the door by removing the door panel, work the switch to see what's not working. If you haven't worked on the interanl or car doors before at least get a manul to see the procedure and refer to the pictures as you can break it still further or hurt yourself inside the door.. Auto parts stores online sales catalogs will show you what the parts look like and how much they cost. Many Volvo's aren't covered very well at parts stores and you may have to get replacemnt patys on ebay to get a reasonable price. wreaking yards are spotty as these days they have to crush cars soon after they get them per enviromental laws.
If, when you hit the button, you do not hear anything at all, it is most likely the power window motor is burned out. If you hit the button, and can hear the motor running in the door, your window is either off it's track, or the motor is worn out where it connects to the cracking mechanism and is not catching it. Popping off the door panel will give you access and you'll be able to see first hand what it is doing once you hit the button. Less likely reasons are a disconnected switch, wire short at the switch, or condensation on the switch.
Try this, push the switch down and roll down the window continue to hold the button for three secon ds then roll the window up and continue to hold the switch up for three seconds.Do this again and see if it fixes your problem.
