What size socket do I need to remove the oil drain plug on my 1996 Buick Century (3.1L V6)

If anyone happens to know what size the head is on the oil pan drain bolt for a 1996 Buick Century 3.1L V6 I'd appreciate the info -- I'm hoping to save myself having to jack up the car an extra time just to check. Thanks!

If it were that easy for me to have done, I wouldn't have bothered asking. As it happens for others who may be looking it takes a metric 14mm socket - and if you're going with an impact wrench/driver, go with a deep socket.

Can you not just reach under with a couple of wrenches,
to check to size what fits?

Buy the time you find this site, you could have changed your oil

I would guess it is metric,as are most all bolts, except some large size chassis bolts, and have been since about 1983. You got rust issues also.

How is the drain plug removed from a buick century 1998

Are you talking about oil drain plug? You use the proper size wrench or socket to remove the plug, turn ccw to loosen. Make sure you have a drain pan underneath. To work on your own vehicle, you need a basic set of wrenches and sockets, standard and metric sizes. You add tools to your tool set as needed.

How do you chage heater core on 1998 buick park ave

  • Lift the hood and prop it open. Makes sure the engine is cold. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench or box wrench. Avoid using open-end wrenches on the battery terminals, as they tend to strip the bolt heads.
  • 2Place a drain pan under the radiator. Open the radiator cap. Open the radiator drain on the bottom of the radiator and the two coolant drains near the oil pan. You can reuse the coolant unless it appears cloudy and contaminated. Close all three drain openings once all the coolant has drained from the system.
  • 3Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses of the heater core inside the engine compartment using a socket wrench. Be prepared to catch or wipe up any coolant that drips from these hoses. Drain the coolant from inside the heater core.
  • 4Unscrew and remove the lower instrument panel sound insulator from below the dashboard on the passenger side. Use a socket or screwdriver to loosen and remove the screws on the heater floor outlet. Remove the clips and take out the duct.
  • 5Loosen and remove the screws holding the heater core cover in place. Remove the cover.
  • 6Remove the retaining bolts holding the heater core in place. Remove the heater core.

What is the size of the allen wrench needed to fit the oil pan drain plug in a 1995 toyota celica

The oil pan drain plug should require a 14mm hex head wrench to remove. The transmission pan requires a 10mm allen head socket, or wrench to remove. Are you sure you're trying to remove the correct drain? The oil drain should be on the passenger side and on the rear corner of the pan.
